1. Every Basic dungeon tile WIP

This is where it all started. This bunch contains every basic dungeon tile I made back during the first half of 2016, still in need of paint. The cardboard box of my computer was sacrificed in the making of these, as you can deduce from the bigger room tiles. :B

2. Finished basic dungeon tiles

And here they all are, painted with a stone-like pattern. It looked like a big set at the time, but little did I know that it was about to get a whole lot bigger...

3. Stairs WIP 1

Here's a close-up of the unpainted sets of straight stairs.

4. Stairs WIP 2

And here are the early stages of a set of spiral staircases.

5. River tile with wooden bridge

For your underground river needs.

6. Underground river tile pieces

As you can see, the river tile consists of three pieces. This way I can remove the bridge or water to make a bottomless pit, if needed. I also made a lava tile for a more volcanic aesthetic, but forgot to include it in this picture.

7. Skull dice tower

I saw these small dice towers in a game session video online, and I just *had* to make one of my own. :D
The base is a bit too small for the dice to roll properly, but otherwise I like how it turned out.

8. Hills WIP

A couple of hills I made out of leftover cardboard.

9. Hills finished

Slapped some paint and grids on them hill pieces. They look more like treetops or the like with the paint texture, but ah well. Good enough, I guess. ^^;
(they're green, but the picture quality makes 'em look more blue...)

10. Collapsed corridor

A corridor floor tile with a partially collapsed floor. Better get those good jump checks coming!
(Sorry for the varied photo quality. I'm no pro and the phone I used to take these hadn't the best camera there is...)

11. More WIPs

Here're some corner pieces, dead ends and corner stairs in need of paint. Up until this point, I had used masking tape to cover the carboard corrugation, but for the newer small tiles I used thin cardstock. It makes the tiles feel sturdier and look cleaner.
Also, as I lacked a banana for scale, a self-made miniature had to suffice. :B

12. Corner piece setup

After I finished the corner pieces etc above, I felt like a sample setup would be in order. Looks pretty boss, if you ask me. :3

13. Stair inserts

A set of wooden and stone stairs. These are measured so that they can be inserted on existing floor tiles (much like the trapdoors in another pic).

14. Other dungeon tiles

Here's a set of various dungeon tiles I made over the course of three days; four water tiles and a detachable stone causeway on a wider river tile (top-left), a two-exit room and a narrowing corridor (top-right), a room under construction (middle-right), two sewer tiles (bottom left), a collapsed corridor/room with a wooden bridge (bottom-center), and a damaged/worn L-corridor (bottom-right).

15. Ladders and trapdoors

Like it says on the title; clip-on ladder wall pieces and detachable trapdoors.

16. Clip-on wall traps

A line-up of some wall traps that can be inserted or removed from the floor tiles. A nasty-looking corridor of death, that is.

17. Clip on wall features

Here be all of the clip on wall features I've made. I made some adjustments to them to make them sturdier and less likely to tip over.

18. Clip on wall features - Close up 1

Another close up of the clip on wall features. It seems to work nicely.

19. Clip on wall features - Close up 2

A closer look at the clip on wall features. As you can see, there's no paint on the added supports yet.

That's fucking awesome op. I went the other route and swapped from dnd to vtm where we didn't use minis at all. Well done, looks amazing.

As I read the title I thought you'd build a rocket launcher

You have the internet; why do you want to spend you time actually doing something?

I find it hilarious that you put in all that work, make amazing scenery, and use paper minis.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, I guess it's kinda funny. :D I make paper minis, because I can draw better than make proper 3D minis.

A better version of Hero Quest.

Couldn't you maybe... use Settlers of Catan game tiles for RPGing? Is that allowed?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh, sure! I think you could implement any board game tiles for your pen & paper games. You could make maps with Carcassonne tiles, even. :D

How does a tabletop RPG work? I didn't know it needed parts like that, that's cool.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It doesn't but stuff like this can add some dimension to a game that otherwise takes place on in the imagination.

Most people are too lazy to build pieces like that and just draw on grid paper and use minifigures. Some people don't even use minifigs.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So whens the game start?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That a 12 sided coffee cup!? Awesome job btw!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks! Yeah, it's a 20-sided die coffee cup. It's my fav. :3 It even has a lid that completes the look.

#17 for those too lazy to scroll back up

Jeez I've watched this like five times now so I can focus on. Little details like their expressions and movement. It's so good!!

No dragons?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No dragons in my fantasy setting, but linnorms are basically their replacement.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So where's that rocket propelled grenade at?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Still working on it. ;)

I've been a game master for 16 years now and I never understood the use of these. It was always about the story for me.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Was just gonna ask the same. Why call it RPG. Looks more like a board game? I'm Swedish so guess it might be a cultural thing?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Ive never seen the point but if it adds something to the game for you go for it

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's all about getting people's brains moving in the right direction and keeping them focused and imaginative. It's all enhancement.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You don't need maps, or tiles, or minis, or background music, or props, or anything but a way to communicate - but they can help + are fun.

I've only played online where the DMV can specifically limit your vision. How do you stop players from seeing what's around every corner 1

With these things? 2/2
