Freeing the Iranian people from oppression is in the interest of the left wing western world. It's too early to say about Iran, but at least in Venezuela the regime did not change. People are hopeful that their lives gets better, but it doesn't seem to happen. USA's ultimate goal was not to help the people, but to gain access to oil in Venezuela.
People are equally hopeful about Iran. It remains to be seen, but so far the regime hasn't collapsed. Impact on Russia is true, but also they mitigated the dependency and they've been building their own drones for a couple of years already.

I don't mind Maduro or Khamenei being erased, but I'm not cheering this as a major victory. Not yet at least. To me it seems that the objective is to get oil, create distraction for Epstein case, and increase popularity before elections. And increase Israel's influence in the region. in Venezuela apparently Trump has personal control on the oil money. Not Venezuelan people, not USA government. Trump personally. I'm betting same happens for Iranian oil soon.

As a former military servant who retired after a full career and now is an academic who works in the national security space, the reason people don’t back this is because it marks another Trump effort to undo an international rules based order in favor of “I will do what I want by force”. That is a disaster for anyone who thinks humans have rights or doesn’t want China to invade Taiwan. No strategic end state has been identified or pursued.
