My friend's favorite pizza place closed down. He got his last two pieces encased in resin to keep forever.

Eventually mold to break a mold

Upvote, but still super weird and creepy.

Aw savoys closed? I never got to try it... Too far across the river lol

Forever ancased in glass and placed on the Grand Pizza shrine

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

...I thought they were frozen in ice for a moment then.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My favourite pizza place closed. I bought the last pizza they made. Coincidentally I also own their freezer now.

I did the same with Folger coffee after my mom died. My parents lived on Folgers at least 20 pots (not kidding) a day.

Should have done a whole pie. Hang that on the wall. Next to the resin ceasar salad.

Tardigrades are waiting to emerge.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used to live in St Paul, I will miss that place!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He should just buy their recipe and open up another joint..or better yet make the pizzas for himself for all eternity

"In case of emergency, use fire axe to acquire pizza"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Any time a good pizza place shuts down or people in NYC go to Domino's and not even 2 Bros Pizza:

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Two seems weird to me. Why not just the very last one? It's like "here it is, the last pizza slice...oh, and also this other one."

8 years ago | Likes 136 Dislikes 0

Now he can use them as bookends

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Probably did two just in case the encasing in resin failed on one.

8 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 1

Also it looks like vomit

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

That's what I was thinking...it doesn't even look like pizza anymore

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So... is he gonna finish that?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For a minute I thought this was some gastro pub pizza abomination

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would have eaten them and had the memories of eating delicious pizza, instead this ass has ruined, wasted pizza.

Tell me why i just hit the '2 comments' on the pic like i was gonna be able to read them.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Would you not just freeze a few slices and reheat them on your deathbed or something?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Saint Paul in the house! I feel your pain.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Isn’t it just going to mold and rot in the case?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

If it's done professionally with stabilizers/moisture replacement agents in the casting process, then no. Otherwise, yes.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

That's gonna make them a lot tougher to chew

8 years ago | Likes 183 Dislikes 1

Never not eat a pizza. What a waste

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're not wrong

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

But you can swallow and poop them out over and over without gaining weight. Pizza +1

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Maybe wash it in between or something?

RED SAVOY'S IN ST.PAUL! GO MN

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There's another one right by me in Uptown. Never been there - is it any good?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

R.I.P. RED

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Where is Savoys from?

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

There's a Savoy in Albuquerque, but it's not this one. That one's still open.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nowhere now

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

St. Paul MN. Red's Savoy has been. MN mainstay for many years until last week.

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Wait, fucking Savoys closed?! I was telling my partner she had to try it when we went to visit my home!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you ever get up north, try Tower pizza, it's to die for

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Except for the numerous other locations. The original just closed because they couldn't be bothered to adhere to 29+ ADA laws.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Considering there is one AT my work, I find this project to be slightly.... excessive.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

$600,000 In renovations is hardly "Couldn't be bothered".

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I am from Minnesota originally only had Savoys a few times as a kid kust couldn't be sure if it was the same one

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They're closing red Savoy? Wtf?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just the original location, there's one down the street from me and it's still open

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The original was the only good one, like Carbones

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Meh, the pizza was about the same for me. Dining experience was way better in sp though

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It would be Minnesota, would it not? Only those people would go so crazy for some crappy pizza from a nasty restaurant.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

He's not bad mouthing MN, just saying you don't have the same caliber pizza as New Haven, New York, Chicago, etc

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Homemade pizza, too.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A thousand years from now those will get broken open, releasing a disease nobody has antibodies for anymore.

8 years ago | Likes 1570 Dislikes 2

One can only hope!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And that is hoe the world shall end. Not with a bang, but with a pizza.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Haha, suck it, future people!

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

We can only hope

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm surprised no one has made a futurama reference to this comment

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The real issue here is...would they know it tastes better heated up or just eat it raw like savages?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Didn’t take that long

That disease being obesity

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Pretty sure any pathogens wouldn't survive without some kind of air source, even if they were anaerobic

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anaerobic means no oxygen.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure I've eaten at pizza places that already harbor diseases of that nature on their unwashed countertops.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

In retrospect, Polio Pizzeria turned out to not be a great choice for Friday night dinners.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Up there with Tuberculosis Tacos and Cancer Quesadilla

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This entire comment chain hasn't received near enough recognition.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Aww shit, gettin pretty spookyu up in here

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But on the bright side, scientists will be able to clone the long-extinct pizza DNA and fill an island with pizza of all kinds.

8 years ago | Likes 486 Dislikes 1

I hope the pizza attacks people..... Mmmm tasty.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Duuuuuuude I was thinking that right when I saw your comment. +1

And they'll end up creating the T-zza virus which turns people into pizzombies.

Like a reverse zombie apocalypse everyone is eating them instead?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Eating out will be great

And then Dennis Nedry will be killed by Calzone that opens up and spits toxic tamato sauce

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A spicy buffalo chicken calzone that sprays his eyes with hot sauce?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For whatever reason, small "mom and pop" pizza stores always seem to close down. It's sad really, usually they make much better pizza

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I live in New Jersey. We have mom and pop Italian restaurants every 3 feet.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You also have mom and pop Italians every 3 inches

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is true.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know, its always the small pizzerias that are the best, luckily i have some right next to my house

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are several Savoys franchised, it's not really gone. Also that reason is the original owner died.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've found, the original 7th st location had something special about it. Different franchises have different levels of quality.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The one on Vadnais Heights is pretty comparable.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fun fact, the only thing that is the same between the original and all the others, is the sauce and the boxes. Sauce: I know things
