I'm from Wales, I thought I would share some nature pictures from my beautiful home country.

This is Cenarth, in West Wales (sorry that I'm in this picture, it's the only good one I have of my local waterfalls)

A beautiful wooded walk in Ceredigion, near Aberystwyth

This is Ffynone, there's a lovely waterfall walk here. I used to come here as a kid with my Dad, it's pretty magical.

Swimming in the water at Ffynone

Cadair Idris: this is a mountain situated at the Southern end of the Snowdonia region. It translates to 'Idris's chair', Idris was supposed to be a giant, and where you can see the lake is supposed to be where he sat.

This waterfall can be found at the end of a walk through the woods near Aberystwyth. There's a gorge walk you can follow, surrounded by beautiful trees. When you reach the end, there's a small man-made cave which leads to this lovely view.

This is from the ancient Tŷ canol woodland in Pembrokeshire. Nearby these woods is Pentre Ifan, a Neolithic burial mound.

Tŷ Canol woods in bluebell season

Sgwd yr eira falls in the Brecon Beacons. You can walk behind this waterfall, and there are five other wonderful waterfalls to look at on your way to see this one.

Henrhyd falls in the Brecon Beacons. Apparently this was the waterfall used for the Bat cave entrance in 'The Dark Knight Rises'.

There are places in Wales (and Scotland) known as 'bothies'. These are old cottages/ shepherds huts in the countryside that you can stay in for free. Usually you have to walk to them, but there are a few that aren't so far from fire roads. Most are looked after by the Mountain Bothies Association. If you ever find yourself in one, make sure to take care of it and keep it clean!

We have beaches too. This is a beach in Aberystwyth.

Cadair Idris in the snow.

Cadair Idris and my happy snowman.

This is Ynyslas beach. When the tide goes out, you can see the tree stumps of an ancient forest in the sand.

My Doggo. Her name is Blodyn, which means 'flower' in Welsh. (Sorry that it's a Snapchat photo)

My cat Mr. G. He likes the tutu.

I see loads of posts of stunning, exotic places so I just thought I'd share what my little corner of the world was like. It's not as big and breathtaking as a lot of places, but I personally think that it's beautiful in its own small way.

Edit: Thank you all! I'm so glad you liked my pictures of my country :)
I would just like to say that yes, I know Mr. G looks grumpy but that's because he's a grouchy but loving Burmese cat, so he just looks like that all the time! He did in fact lick my nose quite a lot and purr whilst wearing the tutu.

Some things about Wales:

1. We have our own language with a stupid alphabet. Don't believe me? It reads like this: A, B, C, CH, D, DD, E, F, FF, G, NG, H, I, J, L, LL, M, N, O, P, PH, R, RH, S, T, TH, U, W, Y. No, you probably can't pronounce some of the letters, especially LL and CH, which kind of sound like hisses.

2. For those who don't know, our national animal is a dragon, as can be seen by our flag. Our national plant is the daffodil.

3. There's a place in North Wales called Zip world. It used to have the worlds longest zip line (I think it's recently been beaten?). The same company has an activity called 'bounce below', where you can basically bounce around on 5 storeys of giant trampolines with slides etc. In an abandoned mine - great fun if you have kids! (Or you're a giant child like myself). They have a load of other activities too.

4. If you like folklore and myths, you should give the Mabinogion a go - it has tales from the heroic/ mythological age of Wales in it.

5. There are waaaay more beautiful places to visit than the few I have mentioned, North Wales is stunning, as is the Swansea Gower. If you get lost of a visit, most people are quite pleasant and will help as best as they can! Although sometimes you might come across someone who doesn't speak English, especially in North Wales.

I love seeing my country on Imgur. Diolch yn fawr a Cymru am Byth.

Are you two gals from scotland? - It's Wales, idiot! - Sorry. Are you two whales from scotland?

How is it that you Welsh girls can type English just fine, but when you speak English it sounds like you're not from this planet?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I actually sound English, not Welsh. I do think the Welsh accent is cute though

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Great, now I'm horny. Thanks a lot.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Beautiful , except your cat looks like he hates the tutu

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

As I previously said, he's just Burmese and is forever grumpy looking! But he licked my nose with the tutu on...

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

This is a lie, where are all the sheep?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Probably in the fields, where most livestock is kept

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm relevant.

I love the little folk tale of people falling asleep on the mountain side becoming mad, or a poet.

Lost it at Aberstytwetuthfw.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Also Aberystwyth has an extortionate amount of pubs in a square mile, you can appreciate the view drunk :)

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Fucking Welsh people with their nice weather and good singers. -Love from England

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Nice weather? Wait, are you from the North?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

TIL Wales actually is Skyrim

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Fire roads made me think of dark souls a bit more than skyrim, but Skyrim also sounds very accurate.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

We even have dragons... ;)

I'm from Camarthen! Hi @OP ! :)

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Agree! Wouldn't be surprised if a fairy would pass my way. Q: Do you offer guided trekkingtours for fellow imgurians (not the creepy ones)?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hello from New South Wales, I've been to old Wales too and it was beautiful. ;p

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Hey my dad comes from Ponty Pridd in South Wales I believe. Proud to have welsh blood surging through me.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pontypridd* it's one word :)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also pronounced preeth at the end because we're normal!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks for the correction.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I notice there's no Newport on there xD

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Or Cwmbran. Not showing the real Wales.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Croesy lad here.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You know, I live in Cardiff currently (that student life), but I never go to Newport despite how close it is!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Wear a stab vest if you decide to venture there. ;)

I've lived three years in Aberystwyth and only know found out there are views like that? Fucking hell.Where?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Further inland, but Ynyslas and Borth are about 20 minutes drive up the coast

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Having just spent the long weekend in North Wales, your country is beautiful and very, very, wet

8 years ago | Likes 184 Dislikes 0

I need to go there more. I live only an hour and a half away and I have only ever been about 2 times in my whole life.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes. Go. It's wonderful. Another country there.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As Craig Ferguson said about Scotland "damp is a fucking colour, here."

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Every time we cross the Severn Bridge going to South Wales to see the Grandparents, it starts to rain. Every time.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I remember it was dry once, when we visited our friends in Ynystawe... Once...

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

So's yer mam

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Waterfalls and lush forests go together with lots and lots of rain

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I cycles across the north coast, didn't see a cloud until I got to england. And then it started to rain

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You got unlucky it was getting up to high 20's pretty much all week until the weekend then it took a dump.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At least it's warm and wet at the moment!

8 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 1

On the top of Snowden on Sat, I very much disagree with you on "warm". Practically swam back down it was raining so damn hard!

I'm at University in Aberystwyth, it truly is beautiful here.

8 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

Snap.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Aber was my second choice uni, but I ended up going to Swansea. I loved Aber's campus and the area surrounding it though, esp. in autumn!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same! Animal Behaviour Represent!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Got a friend going there. Studying geology, IMO couldn't have picked a better place.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Funnily enough, my other half studies geology there too!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same! These pics are making me miss the place a lot.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My parents met there! My dad tried to impress my mam at the castle by juggling over her head whilst she took a nap on the grass

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Did my first BA in Aber- lovely place. Will miss the old RAFA

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is going to be strange. Did you ever have proof it was a real RAFA? Rumour on the street here is that it was all a scam.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really? Never heard that, but you never know. Plenty of certificates and former airmen there, so I assumed it was above board

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's the jist of it. They took the money and had all the right outward signs but was not actually affiliated and gave them no money!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Damn, that's low! Cheeky bastards

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I went there too! I didn't take advantage of the sights, sadly. Castle, and that large hill down by the sea and that's it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The large hill by some of the student lodgings, that is.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I came to Aber for uni in 2010. Still here!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I went there too- worked in the 24 hour spar

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Good on you!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I work in the lidl myself, can't really go into spar after puking in there during my first year....

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've eaten way too many gross cheese burgers from there on nights out...

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"Death burgers" as we used to call them :-D

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some of the LOTR languages are based off such names

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

To be fair, it's all phonetic. Barring the sounds only we Welsh use, making the phonetecism redundant.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just remember w = "u" and u = "ie" and you're halfway there.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And hot Welsh girls...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cardiff here to prove both your points wrong.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Except it's Caerdydd in Welsh.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

To be fair though it's pronounced pretty much the same because Welsh DD is another strange one

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most of the confusion on how to pronounce Welsh comes from the odd spellings. Though you could say the same for every Celtic language. //

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

// the Irish word "fadhb" probably confuses the fuck out of most non-speakers.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was thinking the names were super cool for D&D setting until I read Snowdonia. That has to be made up xD

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Snowdonia is english name pretty sure. So I'd agree, made up :p >>Snowdonia (Welsh: Eryri) is a mountainous region in north Wales

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Haha, nah it's a whole mountain region. Snowdon is the 'main' mountain there

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I love how Tolkienish Ceredigion sounds, tho!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some are just hilarious. My friends were always joking that Porthmadog is named after a lucrative dog-shipping business.

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Hahaha! One of my favourites is Ffostrasol, because every english person I know (Dad included) pronounces it 'Frosty-arsehole'

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Dad status and British humour confirmed!

Ah yes, the most famous of which being 'Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch'.

You didn't even have to look up the spelling, did you?

8 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 0

My grandad was Welsh and said that it translates to directions to the place. Something about a little white church and around the corner etc

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I actually heard people saying that name. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHxO0UdpoxM
