We started work in the university library

We started work on this project in April when Unreal Engine 4 came out last year

and we have been working very hard modeling, texturing, animating and coding to bring this first person multiplayer

We are making the game to be a blend of Hotline miami, TimeSplitters, Borderlands, Manhunt

a little bit of game story

In the aftermath of the Vietnam War, the United States is in turmoil. The youth are out of control, protests turn to riots in the streets with students boycotting schools across the country, fearing a civil war with the youth of America and the ever increasing threat of both domestic and international communism, the powers that be fund a CIA derivative of the MKSEARCH program, Codenamed: “Red Awakening”, a program designed to solve all of America’s problems at once.

Scale

This will be a weapon in the game, for real, it will be called The Potassinator ;)

Those arms holding the shotgun looks really weird. Hope they change that.

This game looks amazing for an Indie project. The best part is, I know how big it is.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Take in the constructive criticism and stick with it - good luck :D I'll play this when it's released to support you guys.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Careful. If you used uni computers, they could claim ownership of the game.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congratulations, you've invented Warsow.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

From the thumbnail, I thought it was Arnold's room from Hey Arnold. Thought it was weird he had a knife...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

cell shading FTW

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is that a pip-boy in #2?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

we call it the arm module

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

oh, cool.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because of the banana scale I know I can run it on my PC.

11 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

...and as an added bonus we know exactly how big it is!

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

The name is odd with that logo, but your screens look nice.

11 years ago | Likes 822 Dislikes 12

my guess is the banana is just reddit/imgur bait

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Took me a second, then ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry Aunt Flo I've got a new name for 'that time of month'

11 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

As a graphic design student, that "True Lies" font...

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

A bloody banana? My imagination is so fucked up.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think The Potassinator gives away the reasoning behind the Banana being there.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At least we know it's to scale.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fear the death Banana!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Makes me think of Borderlands with a logo for scale.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Love the metal gear reference!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

looks like boarderlands

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I like the style especially since you use unreal engine because its the same they use for borderlands

11 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 3

In glorious 4:3 aspect ratio

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Making it on school computers on the school's time may mean they own the property, btw. You might want to find that out.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

At my university, they take only 30% of proceeds, but it's still a non-zero amount.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a law student this was my first thought :/

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looks like Borderlands meets XIII. One comment though, although I haven't actually played it, isn't FC: Blood Dragon in a very similar font?

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Banana for reference of course

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Looks like Far Cry: Blood Dragon.

11 years ago | Likes 154 Dislikes 2

Hopefully, there's a Far Cry 4 sequel to Blood Dragon. I fucking loved that shit.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The exact opposite of a bad thing... I enjoyed Blood Dragon a lot, my only regret is that there wasn't more storyline to play more.

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Which makes it awesome. Blood Dragon was a great dose of nostalgia and awesome neon effects.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I really wonder if the devs just did a bunch of drugs and were like, this will be fun. I love how ridiculous it is.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

WINNERS DON'T DO DRUGS.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I won't go to bed until everybody's dead!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

MK 4 STYLE MOTHERFUCKER

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I want to play that. But every time I try, UPlay tells me I'm not online and refuses to work. >:(

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I bought it on steam, am I gonna have uplay issues?

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's actually Satan

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

+1 for accuracy

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Since you are forced to use UPlay, its possible, but not everyone is going to have this problem.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You might. Steam has a "requires 3rd party DRM" label/badge on games that require it, e.g. Far Cry 3 Steam Version requires UPlay

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didn't, but I don't want that to be grounds to disregard others' problems. Try looking online if you have any of your own.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hoping they just used steamworks and not steam plus uplay, but I guess I'll just have to see.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When you launch it on Steam, U-Play then launches. It's dumb.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Uplay is just terrible sometimes. Hope you have luck running the game. It's totally worth it!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bout AC:Brotherhood when it was on a steam sale a coupld years back... couldn't play it for a month because uplay didn't honor the purchase.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Borderlands:Blood Dragon

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sounds like you have the sound track worked out but if you need any more help... I make music... so just saying. No monies needed.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

GET THEE TO THE STEAM GREENLIGHT PROGRAM AND WE WILL VOTE FOR IT, YO!

11 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 2

Agreed!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Greenlight requires a $100 payment before you can list anything. Given they aren't spending anything on the game, paying for Greenlight...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Okay then maybe a small kickstarter, then greenlight.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not without doing research. They can talk a good game and make nice screenshots, but can they deliver?

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I've seen things get greenlit with less to show and show than this unfortunately.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"less to show and say" I meant

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Man, greenlight is greenlighting things that are total crap, it's like the kickstarter for potato salad.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

POT-ASS-inator. WAKE UP AMERICA!!

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

Lord jeyzus help us all

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

cannabis AND sodomy, HOW MUCH MORE SINFUL COULD THIS BEEE????!?!

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Sounds like a good time to me.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It looks like Fallout and Bioshock had a love child.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As an extreme Bioshock & Fallout enthusiast, squeeeee

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So a borderlands knock-off?

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Similar graphics style = knock-off, sure buddy.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Identical graphics, same genre, same gimmicks. Got a link to where I can buy your tunnel vision?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Similar graphical style, shares ONE of the genres from what I've read, has gimmicks closer to Deus Ex than Borderlands.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

"dynamic stealth, parkour style movement" Yeah, you are right. This just screams borderlands. Just like The Walking Dead game were...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Great - you took Assassin's creed, added guns to it, and then skinned it with Borderland's cel shading art style.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I honestly cant tell if you are serious or not. I seriously hope you arent

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't ruin their plagiaristic life dreams. :(

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's not zero budget unless your time is worthless

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

As a dev many folk think this is the case."It is a super simple job;do me a solid" Yeah, no. :( The only solids that pay the bills is $$

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

By that logic, playing board games with friends is not zero budget. He's gaining skills and having fun (mostly) :)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This, kinda bothers me... Is it me or does the left arm look out of place? Just saying. Other wise this looks

11 years ago | Likes 379 Dislikes 8

It does kind of, it's how it bends and the large object, makes it wonky.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

They chose to use a "chest cam" point of view, not forehead.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeaaaah after all those cartoons about FPS angles being fucked, this just went and topped them.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's a chest cam, but the arms are actually in fairly realistic positions.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got more peeved by the gun's cell shading poking through a solid mass.

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Then again, it's a year from finished

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Holy shit, that is what it would look like! Hold your arms up like you have a shotgun... Good, you now look like an idiot.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

It looks like this in peripheral, because of the game's restricted FOV it would actually be a little further down, realistically. But good.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Other wise this looks cool.*

11 years ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 0

Don't care, has chainsaw.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think a bit of it has to do with the FOV, maybe? The aspect ratio looks a bit off in the picture, that door is kind of squashy

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yeah, either no neck or no shoulder. Needs to adjust height of the arm whilst keeping the hand in roughly the same spot, IMO.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I do, however, like the art style and would like to see some more of it. More environments maybe? And the game play could turn out amazing.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dunno if the OP is reading, but raise that camera up a bit there and put the elbow out a bit more, bruh

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

he dislocated it for better aiming

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the game is on greenlight now http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=415971124

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 0

It's still a work in progress and i'm sure they know it looks off.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

we noticed this too... thanks for the comment

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's the default position in UE4 for FPS mode

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looks totally bizarre and out of place

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think the forearm looks a bit short. If it was a bit longer it'd look a bit better

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some peopl wear their Pipboy on the inside of their arm, so they can use the motion tracker while stalking their preyt...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think you people need to go hold a weapon (or a broom). Your arm does appear in the lower left of your vision.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your left arm doesn't come out of your ear socket? What comes out of your ear socket, a foot?

11 years ago | Likes 118 Dislikes 1

Im cackling breathlessly at this comment, well done! WELL FUCKING DONE!

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

That's where my 4th penis is... 0.o What?

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

looks like boarderlands

11 years ago | Likes 558 Dislikes 30

only reason I clicked on this post. I love Borderlands. Ended up being a pretty cool post

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I love Borderlands too...and 2. And the Pre sequel.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Borderlands and Fallout. Dat Pip-Boy

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Which looks like XIII

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bananalands

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

....I thought I was the only one, but also reminded me of the color scheme of KILLER 7.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I thought it looked a bit more like the original Half Life, but then again K thought Borderlands 1 reminded me of Half Life 2.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

or any other cell shaded game...

11 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 2

That would be the cel shading. Borderland also shades the game using that method, giving the two similar looks.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

holy shit youre a visionary i never would have seen that

11 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 4

Unreal Engine 4 costs money... more than $0..

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

not for academic use

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There was no academic "package" around April if memory serves me right. And if they're not planning on selling it, sweet, sure!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm assuming this is built in UDK - free for non commercial use, very reasonable rates if you sell anything you make.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

in fact, probably educational license for unreal engine 4, now that I've fact checked.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yeah -- they just need to make sure they get the permissions from unreal before they release it..

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unreal Engine 4 doesn't have a UDK version of it. Prices are low enough on the full engine to make it UDK almost a waste of time.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So I've learned from reading.I used to be a modder and moved on to UDK but haven't touched it in a couple of years, nice to see the new terms

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yea, in the last year of the course I did, we had to make a game, UE4 came out just before we started, so we used it =D.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What makes your cel-shading distinctive?

11 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 6

I think it's actually a Sobel Operator.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

its cheap and doesnt have to be rendered from every viewable angle

11 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

didn't the borderlands devs say the same thing about theirs.. or actually not being cell-shading..

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

seriously. cell shading is lame and over used.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 72

Obviously not prevalent enough for you to spell it correctly...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then you make a game in your free time
