#2 I work in energy conservation and weatherization, and one of the big factors in building science is that your house already has tons of cracks and penetrations that let air in from outside! No need to crack a window, most windows have natural air leakage anyway around their flashing and framing. Plus tons of other air leakage around doors, air conditioning registers, plumbing penetrations, and the like!
