"Too aggressive to be a pet." they said.

Here the charmer is. Ludde, 5.5 years old now. Majestic, charming and a shedding master. I heard about him from a friend four years ago. She told me about her friend, a cat lady who took in difficult cats and rehabilitated them. Apparently he was the one she couldn't handle.

I asked for her number and I got it.

When I called and asked about him, she explained his story. He's been thrown out multiple times, hit by a car, had his tail burnt... He's been through hell. And he had serious damages on his psyche. She said that he wouldn't have a chance in the world to find a home. I told her that, yes he does and that he was gonna live with my family. She redirected me to the local cat shelter that placed him with her.

I talked to them. They said, I quote, "He's impossible, he's too aggressive to be a pet. He's injured another cat here at the shelter and attacked several other volunteers. He's going to be put down in a week, we can't help him anymore."

I told my dad. After five minutes we called them again and said we were gonna take him.

The rehabilitation lady brought him home to us. He was shaved except on his head and the tip of his tail. He shat himself all over during the car ride because of fright. Yet as soon as he came out of the shower, he strutted into the apartment like he owned the place and placed himself on a shelf. It took three days before he got along with our two other cats. It took a week for him to trust us enough to smell us. After three months, he was family. He started seeking contact and enjoyed cuddling. After a year, he learned from watching the other cats to not bite when he was annoyed, but to meow or walk away.

Now 4 years later, he can't harm a fly. He spends most of his time in the couch snoring or watches us with curiosity. I think he understands sometimes that we saved him, that he'd be fucked if I hadn't had a conversation about cats with a friend.

I take him for walks, I brush his fur, I cut his claws, I feed him and play with him.

"He's too aggressive to be a pet."

That's a quote that doesn't fit a cat that crawls up into my lap as I write about him on the internet.

All of the pictures in here are recent. I have old pictures of him somewhere deep in my computer or on an old phone but I cba to dig. Might do it if it's requested however.

Do you have an entire wall papered with "illusion is the first of all pleasures?"

*He's too aggressive to be a pet for lazy fuckwits.

As an owner of a cat who was labeled "agressive and unlovable" thank you. They take time but they are so worth it!

9 years ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 2

I had a cat that ended up that way due to previous owners, couldn't get near her even. Took years but she is the happiest she has ever been.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

And in some cases, they never end up as pets. They can still be happy though, and have quite neat lives on farms and similar.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They tried so hard to get us to pick any other cat.. We adopted him anyway. And now he is a big old squish. He even looks a lot like him!

Some people who think they know animals don't actually know animals. Just like humans lying to themselves about other things.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Requesting... He's gorgeous, glad he finally found his forever family

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

I almost cried. And I'm a man without feelings!!! Dammit

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Aren't you scared this'll motivate people to get ''aggressive'' cats and not get lucky so they have to get rid of it again?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Send the shelter a spite Christmas card every year.

9 years ago | Likes 129 Dislikes 23

But the shelter would be happy that the rehab was a success and an animal's life was saved? I'm sure they would enjoy receiving that card!

9 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 0

With a pic of the cat being as domestic and pet-ish as possible.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Why is this being downvoted?? I'm suggesting that it'd be funny for the cat to be doing exact opposite of what was predicted.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why spite? This cat beat the odds, why not make a nice card that shows how well he is doing instead of trying to be a prick?

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

But...was this a four year problem for your other cats?

Our cats we found on the side of the road. They were pets (had collars but no tags/chips) that had been abandoned. We took them in, one 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

was a female cat and about a month away from being a mama cat. Now we have five cats. They're taken care of; even though money is 1.5/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

tight we make sure they have the medicine and food they need. Also, they spend their days in laps or within petting range.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you. A thousand up-votes for you.

My late cat, Zeus, was like this. He was fortunately injury free but he was returned to the shelter no less than 16 times 1/?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

by everyone who adopted him, every time withing 48 hours, stating "he's a menace, violent and temperamental". I adopted him when 2/?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was just a kid, he was 2 years old at the time. 24 years later, at the age of 26 we finally had to put him to rest as his body had 3/?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

given up. He was the sweetest, most loving cat imaginable and I miss him. My other cat, Spock, passed away 6 months later, also aged 26.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Please tell me how you get cats to get along. I have a 9yo grouch who does his best lawnmower impression whenever he sees the 10mo dumbass.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Start over. Separate them in different rooms and then very slowly reintroduce them.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I bathe everyone. That way they're preoccupied w/cleaning and drying and they also smell the same. Treats/playtime have worked also.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have found that giving more attention to the long timer helps too, especially in full view of the youngling.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's a chance they may never get along. I had a 7 year old & got a kitten. Been two years she still growls. If a cat grows alone...

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There's a chance they'll never like the other cat

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've never met a cat that was too aggressive to be a pet. Only cats that need the right human to be their People. Good on your family!

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Quite likely to be true. But for some cats, finding those people are statistically unlikely, and causes a lot of stress.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In those cases, spay/neuter, and a semi-wild life at a farm can sometimes be the better option for the cat.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

absolutely!!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cats and humans sometimes have personality clashes. So glad he found his family. Finally!

9 years ago | Likes 188 Dislikes 2

yes. there are just some of them that need...a certain person...that needs them

I had a problem cat like that named Willow. One day a lady came by and she was all over her, instead of trying to murder her. 1/?

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

The lady was smitten, it looked just like a cat of hers that passed away several months ago. I offered the cat to her on the spot. 2/?

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

She took her a week later. The demon Willow was with me totally replaced by the lady's sweet angel. They both got a happy ending. 3/3

Ohhhh :)

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Please tell me you sent a big middle finger to those people who thought he couldn't be a pet.

9 years ago | Likes 147 Dislikes 34

Especially the lady that opens her home to difficult cats? :(

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

I have dealt with cats that has not been possible to have as pets. I would be thrilled over being wrong.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That's an awful response.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They were just trying their best and gave a fair warning to a future owner. The amount of care that cat needed couldn't be provided by them.

9 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 1

Mail a picture of cat on lap and another of a middle finger

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 11

The middlest of digits. Send them dick pics.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Mail a middle finger? Cut it off and express mail it?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Yes, put your dick in it too

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Better yet - send them an update bragging about how well he's doing. Shelters do love a good success story.

9 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 3

This. Hell, just link them to this.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

+1. Well done. Btw, such a cutie!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had a similar dog, marked as aggressive. Dog wouldn't even growl or nip or anything and was friendly to every stranger she saw.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

As soon as I read the name I thought @op was Swedish. Confirmed with Kanal 5 on the TV. :)

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Haha it was the same for me!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Look at that ear fluff holy god

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Some cats don't do well in shelter situations. We foster a kitten who lost his mind at adoption events but was fine in a home setting.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

Good for you doing that. I considered fostering, but I don't think I can let go and get next

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He ended up staying with us.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Possible best for him, if he didn't do too well with many

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Dude. Yes. We adopted a cat that "you'll have to sedate to get near". He's a snuggle cat that wakes me up every morning a gentle paw to nose

Yeah but look at its FANGS!

My ex-housemate brought her cat in, warning me that the cat hated to be touched, picked up or cuddled. Guess who was sound asleep in my 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

arms after 10 minutes?

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

That is just to test if you are going to wake up easily, one day. BAM! Cat butt wake up view!

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Picture?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Snuggle cats are the best!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

we adopted a cat that was terrified of humans. we have had him for 3 years and now he even comes out to meet guests.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My cat licks my nose and chin.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Adopted a little darling it took 9 months to touch. Now she is a snugglebunny who won't leave you alone.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Going to need pics of your cat too please and thank you.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

A gentle paw to the nose to wake you up is incredibly cute!

9 years ago | Likes 136 Dislikes 0

Until it is followed by licking your nose and turns into gently claws as you try to escape butt breath

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mine starts with a gentle paw. If it doesn't work he uses a gentle claw, then slowly increases the pressure until I am awake.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Mine does that too

i just took in 2 feral cats that have been living in my uncle's study for almost a year (they adopted them). My tio was telling me that he 1

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

2 cant get them to come near him. He moved out, I moved into his study as a new bedroom. I decided to keep the 2 feral cats. It's only been

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

3 three weeks and they're already approaching me sniffing my hand. i cant yet pet them but they at least will lay in front of me and squint

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

4 their eyes and just chill instead of constantly hiding. JUST CALL ME THE MOTHER FUCKIN CAT WHISPERER.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's a pretty good outcome for feral cats. Congrats

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

thanks! they're starting to come out of the room and explore the rest of the house. i named only one of them bcuz his sister is a bitch
