I like how gentle he is until he's got room to happy jump

I bet the initial shyness is instinctual. Worried about causing food aggression

Wholesome. 12/10 very grateful.

Such a happy little tank

7 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 2

Wholesome except I think those chews are made from bull penises

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

If you're referring to the corkscrew, you may be thinking of the tip of a pigs dick.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Oh, you're good! I'm impressed! That's in the shape of a pig penis. But my understanding is these are made bull penises ( and other tissue)

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

"Mmm yes. That's very nice of you kind sir HOLY FUCKING SPASTIC POTATO BATMAN"

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Every up means extra belly rubs for that sweet potato. You have your work cut out for ya

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Where the ears?

7 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 6

Monster of an owner chopped them off. Checked the instagram and verified.

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

sometimes this breed gets ears removed-tradition was these dogs were bred for pit-fighting (bears, bulls, ,dogs), ears were vulnerable

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 5

Pretty damn cruel

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

agreed! Unfort., some people feel that this "tradition" should be continued, even if the pups aren't used for that purpose...

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

That's a bull penis treat, also, known as bully or pizzle sticks. Now you know.

7 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 1

I'm gonna have to get one for my bulldog.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

My dog loves 'em and they're natural.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And it's someone's job to twist them into that spiral shape

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Flashbacks of the time my friend thought he was funny for chewing on a dog treat. 11 years later and it's funnier now than it was then. Nice

You know how I know your a good dog parent @OP? When your dogs freaks out, it’s nails don’t click like a pair of canasta.

7 years ago | Likes 343 Dislikes 8

So it takes us like a month to cut his nails so they stay long

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can't trim my pits nails. Hit bits when you do he is a loving dog just bites when you do that bec he is a pit the vets don't do them

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Barely has ears left, but at least his toenails are on point

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Has everyone else missed your point? When a dog is walked sufficiently, the nails wear down & don't need to be cut e.g. this dog is walked

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 5

Castanets?

7 years ago | Likes 118 Dislikes 1

Castanza

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My dog was abused/neglected before I got her. Her quicks grew out so long that even when I do trim her nails, they're still fairly long.

7 years ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 3

Same here. Also one of my big girls nails permanently grows sideways.

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

The next time your dog goes under for a dental, ask about having her nails cut back and cauterized ? they will already be on pain meds 1/?

7 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 1

and antibiotics! Having long nails can be damaging to your dog's gait and foot health, which long term can negatively affect their joints

7 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

Short nails are very easy to maintain once they are cut back! It is a quick and easy procedure that is awesome for rescue situations

7 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

I'll definitely look into it, thanks!

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Interesting, my boy is also a rescue/stray and even when freshly clipped his nails still click. Can you expand on the reasons why please?

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

If their nails went unattended for years, their quicks just keep growing, nothing is stopping them. That's why regular clipping is necessary

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I had absolutely no idea. Is it reverse-able?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, the more you cut them and keep on it, the shorter the quick will get/stay

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Someone commented on my original comment that you can ask vets to cut them back and cauterize the quicks. I imagine it's fairly common

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

My dog has something weird with her paws. She literally never let's ANYONE touch her feet. We had to put her to sleep the last time we trim

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Trimmed her nails. I'm her human and she doesn't even let me do it..

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same with my dog. Conditioned him as a puppy to allow us and the bigger and stronger he got the more difficult it became until we just 1/

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Couldn't do it anymore. 105lbs is hard to control when it doesn't want to be. Vet tried to mildly sedate him and said they couldn't trim 2/

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Them either. Said he'd need to be all the way under and I don't feel good about doing that a lot just to trim his nails. Hes a super 3/

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same here! We use a dremel to cut her nails. Just keep cutting them back bit by bit and over time they will recede. The dremel let's you get

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Closer to the quick

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What’s a dreamel? My dog literally panics when I try to trim his nails. I need to find a solution before they get too long.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

A dremel is a grinder tool, basically a motorized nail file in these situations (has many different uses)

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also worth noting that, if your dog doesn't deal with regular clippers, a Dremel or other motorized device will be much scarier to the dog!

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Word. Idk what to even do. Even while he’s calm, the only time he panics is when his nails are touched by clippers. :-/

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Get a couple friends to help restrain dog and hold leg. Touch clippers to nail, give tons of praise and treats. Release dog. Repeat >>

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How did you get your dog used to Dremel? Mine are less than enthusiastic to put it mildly. They're fair/okay with traditional nail clippers.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Peanutbutter kong usually works wonders. Keeps there mind off what is happening. I've also had a dog where only the groomer could do it with

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A muzzle and her being tied down. My current companion is very good with it though

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Start with short intervals and lots of treats. They have to get to the point where they realize it feels funny, but doesn't hurt.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So like 5 seconds once a day for a few weeks? Touch it to their nails once, then give em shitloads of treats and be done for the day?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Out the treats. Both our guys do not enjoy it but thet tolerate it now. Usually do one dog one night the other the next lol

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We have our boys lay in their beds. We do one claw for only a few seconds each as it can get warm. My husband grinds the nails and I dish

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Seconded on the only a few seconds per claw. The friction heats the claw, which can transfer to the quick.
