Never get high on your own supply

Meanwhile the history major sitting in class is thinking, "Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it."

Very utilitarian. His son is definitely sterile.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ethics was the best class. The only one I saw a chair thrown. Would recommend.

Did he do it with ethically sourced goods?

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

So he learned from experience. Kinda required for the job.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I knew a family, where the minister husband ran off with his son's wife.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still messed up, but the son dodged a bullet and probably already knew about his Dad.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

That's a wild title đź’€

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How does the gf even get to that? If my significant other's mom started hitting on me, I'd be gone so fast.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Trying to get revenge on her cheating boyfriend by sleeping with his dad I bet. Like father like son and etc

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah. And ew. And EWx2.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually this makes sense, it's way easier to teach something when you know its antithetical counterpart.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not his son's ex-girlfriend?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Knowledge of does not equal practice of.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My religion teacher ran away with a student and all of his kids' college money

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Some say he is still running to this day. Run Forest, run

The meme does not say "had sex with" it uses the impersonal "impregnate".
Would it be ethical under this set of circumstances: His son lost his testicles. The committed GF wanted her child to have the son's DNA. The professor had sex with, for the purpose of impegnating, the son's GF?

Those who can't do, teach.

2 years ago | Likes 854 Dislikes 19

Those, who can, do. Those, who can't, teach.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 7

Those that can't reach become professors.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And those who can't teach, knock up their sons girlfriends

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's fucking funny. Caught me off guard and I snorted. Thx +1

There is so much wrong with this phrase.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Those who teach, do it.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife's a teacher. She HATES this phrase. I say it often.

That's how he got the job... the interview was "Tell us the most egregious ethical violation you've committed", and he was the worst of all of the candidates so they hired him.

Those who cants teach, teach gym.

Number 6. That god damn credit? Forget it, You think a crackhead paying you back...Man froget it..

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is this a thing with ethic's professors because I had a philsophy of ethics professor who was a raging asshole. I actually heard him say to a student "I don't care I have tenure".

2 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 3

As a college dean I have heard that often

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yes it is. It is a well known joke in the philosophy world that the ethics professors are usually just the worst people. Generally good instructors though.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

That's cause they know the entire breadth and width of their content including the antithetical areas.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Knowing ethics is not the same as having morals

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What was the question though? Seems pretty important

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If I had to guess it was about grades because this guy failed just about everybody and I won't pretend like I'm philosophical genius but he was giving me zeroes. Not even a failing grade just zero and like no notes on what was incorrect. I suspect he did that with multiple people.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Student: Hey Professor! Did you know that slugs lie to us about their travel plans? You can add that to your resume and maybe it will help you get tenure

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sam Bankman Fried of FTX billion dollar scam fame's dad is an ethics professor at Stanford. He's reportedly also the person who taught Peter Thiel how to pay as little in taxes as possible. Being an ethics professor clearly doesn't mean you care about the subject whatsoever.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

A person could become a medical doctor and still smoke and drink and not exercise and over work and be over stressed and STILL be a good doctor. Being an ethics professor means you are KNOWLEDGEABLE about ethics, to the point you are able to advise legal teams and be called before a judge etc. Doesn’t mean they are good people. In fact, there’s a pretty well known rule that most academics started off trying to understand themselves, so wouldn’t surprise me that field attracted sociopaths lol

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Jeez. Mine was idealistic to the point of being dumb, but otherwise seemed okay.

2 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

Oh, God, the stories. Are any of these guys decent human beings? I'll tell you one of my best. We had one of these clowns. A Havvard [sic] professor. One of my friend's wife was in his class (I'd taken the class the year before). One day, when the class for whatever reason, had failed to live up to his expectations, he went off on a rant about how none of them would ever amount to anything. My friend's wife stood up, and said " I am a perfusionist (google it). Last year I made 150K (1990 $).

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Last month, > a surgical team flew me to ND on a 10M$ private jet to try and recruit me. They offered me 200K to join their team. I turned them down. You sir, have nothing to teach me". Picked up her things and walked out.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Sounds like she was right, she worked in medical field and made a reasonable wage for her work(given how important that work is, very fair pay), so what good was his class to her?

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

MBA. She didn't need it, but figured it would enhance her value in the workplace.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

So he saved his son from a promiscuous cheating girlfriend. Well done!

2 years ago | Likes 208 Dislikes 6

Or they got together and worked it out, or all moved in under one roof. Have you seen rent these days?

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

OR he is am older man playing on younger women?

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 8

Some say he was robbing the cradle, but the truth is, she was robbing the grave.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Well, yes, but the joke is supposed to be the funny side of the coin, not the real side of it.

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Eh... Doubt

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 9

It seems about as doubtful as corrupt public servants or child-raping priests.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't see why. Professors being shitheads is not a particularly uncommon thing.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I've had many profs, running the gamut from those I socialized with out of class to those dickheads. But the dickheads get tenure.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it doesn’t seem that outlandish at all really.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Being able to teach ethics doesn't imply you're ethical. I can tell you an awful lot about the Mormon Church and I'm an atheist.

2 years ago | Likes 438 Dislikes 9

Nooooo, an atheist? Here? Do people pat you on the back and buy you things?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Irregular reminder that the failed crypto banker with the afro was raised by a pair of ethics profs.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There is:

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can do the same about Catholicism, but suddenly I’m the bad guy when I point out the flaws in my old religion.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I can tell you a lot about everything, it's hard to get me to shut up about everything honestly. And I don't know shit.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

You fit right in here don't you

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh, I get quite a few downvotes, but they make me smile usually.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Being born and raised in the LDS religion, going to seminary as teenager and serving a mission is what made me atheist.

2 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 2

I managed to break away in my teens, 20 years later, my whole family is out. So weird drinking with them.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

RIGHT?! But also a good time.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was an atheist as well. But then i started believing in myself

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

As I understand it, the Missions aren't really as much about converting people as they are for you do discover how alone/special/different you are and how much people look at you strangely, so you run home and bond with the church instead of that big wide scary discriminatory world.

2 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 2

Pretty much. They want young people to experience being rejected by society at large, so that they'll run back to the community at the end and do whatever it takes to not be pushed out into the scary world. And it's scary how well it ends up working for the most part.

2 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

A safe place from the scary world does sound nice tho

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

And the Mormon Church can tell you an awful lot about how wrong sexual abuse of kids is, and yet...

2 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 5

Really? I thought they couldn't tell that was a bad thing. Like the catholic church as well... The clergymen/congregation all look around and say "looks good to me fellas".

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Their official position is that it's bad.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Oh right their position is that child sexual assault is bad. But if that child is married to a man twice (or more, often more) then it’s not sexual assault because they’re married… did I get that one right there? Pretty sure I did.

my sr. year of college the academic dean taught a class I was in and kept mispronouncing superfluous. I still think about it.

2 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

Super FLU us?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had a professor who called every image, from diagrams to photos of nature, a schematic and it drove me absolutely insane.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

I had a professor that called all videos movies. Documentary? Movie. Lesson? Movie. Anything on YouTube? Movie. He was an interesting guy, but man…that bothered me…

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I might have to start doing that!

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

(I tutor. A WIIIIDE range of subjects.)

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Did they make the wrong sounds or simply emphasize the wrong syllable?

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

wrong syllable: like, su-PER-FULL-iss. it's the FULL part he kept saying

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

so wrong sound also I guess

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I think that would drive me nuts if they didn't have an accent that clearly indicated English was not their first language.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

to make the whole thing even worse, he's the one who brought it up and was instructing us on how to pronounce it. several of us were definitely giving each other the look
