ALT + F4 is the best shortcut

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most of this is basic computer skills. Seriously, everyone should know ctrl-s is save, the hot keys for cut/copy/paste.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ctrl-Shift and ; will insert the time.

Alt+Enter changed my life !

I'm saving this to give to my coworkers ctrl-z blows minds

Ctrl+D is the king. Also shift + arrows jumps to the first cell with data (or to the first cell without data) to help you navigate your data

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And Ctrl+Shift+Arrow to select all data in a row/column

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The best way to learn this is just by hitting alt. You can use shortcuts for anything that way

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The ALT shortcuts are usually difficult to remember. You have to select the tab, then tab group, then command or dropdown menu, etc.

I wish they had this for sublime text

Alt+F4 - calculates all sh***t instantly

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They forgot "END + ARROW" to move to the first/last non-blank cell in any direction. Also hold down SHIFT to select the cells.

I need a shortcut key to open the hyperlink in a selected cell. It would be insanely useful at work.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Write a macro to open the cells hyperlink. Macros can have keyboard shortcuts written in.

kk at my work we have to use excel and some of the cells if you hit delete at all(in cell) it fucks up the formulas somehow. any ez fix?

Visual Basic for Applications, that's the real cheat sheet for excel.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That's not a cheat sheet, that's only a keyboard shortcut list.

I work on a farm why did I favorite this?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Interestingly, this won't work on non-English installs because MS decided that shortcuts should be language-dependent.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

oh man if this is a cheat cheat then I have an alt-F4 to sell you

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Only about 15% of this has anything to do with excel. The rest is mostly "FFS learn to use you goddamn computer, noob!"

Sadly, I know a lot of people who would need something like this. New Horizons and OP should have added "for beginners" to the title.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At least it was just one post we had to sit through though, and not a full one-day beginners class like I was subjected to at one company.

fuck ive looked but i cant find my computer noob..

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you check between keyboard and chair? I've heard that's mostly where they located.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

checking..ill see if THEY located there..

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I agree, many of the shortcuts are common and work across programs and operating systems even. Still, could be useful for some people :)

Did they ever fix their course material? I took an excel class many moons ago, and the pivot table info was wrong....

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

...The instructor told the class they wouldn't need them. I ended up showing the instructor what they are and what they are good for.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pivot tables are amazing! I'd be happy if I could just get people to use filters though.
