Competitive swimmer for 15 years. 19 years old, Breaststoke and Butterfly fucked my knees/rotator cuffs to the point of needing surgery :(

Try sprinting in small amounts. Don't over exert yourself and hurt your knees, build up muscle gradually to support them.

The rest on the ground bit for sure, with extra weight it rotates the knee in a bad way. Plus doesn't work muscles fully

Why the over extension? For a brief moment when she is getting up, her joint bears the load and that's not what they are designed for.

Nope, if damaged/destoyed need to be surgically replaced, which isn't fun. Been there done that. Muscles around the knee can be trained tho
