Great reaction to the thought of a black James Bond

Elba would be fantastic but I don't think Craig is going anywhere

ABSOLUTELY AGREE. It's not a racist thing. Bond cannot change color as much as the sun could go dark. Again, James Bond is WHITE. What is this? Finagan's Rainbow?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bond, Motherfucker, James Bond

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

He's not going to do it because no matter what, everyone would call him THE BLACK James Bond instead of another James Bond

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

No, Mr. OP, I expect you to die!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Having a Black James Bond would be a great move. Everyone always knows Bond in the films, despite being a spy. This could throw them off.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To be honest, if Bond were a black man, it wouldn't have been "almost" had his genitals chopped off.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

oooooh idris elba.....

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But Daniel Craig...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If they decide to go with a black Bond, picking Denzel Washington would be the best James Bond pick since Dalton, Idris is a good actor and has the looks and accent but Denzel is the type of actor that can take a mediocre movie (like the Jamesbond franchise) and make it great!

Soooo the "007 is just a code name" theory is true, then?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Idris Elba shouldn't waste his talents in Bond movies.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good, if James Bond is gonna be black, I still want Michael Cera to be Shaft. We got bamboozled when Donald Glover became Spider-Man....

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Nobody sarcasms like brits sarcasm. Awesome.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

idris elba would def reignite my interest in bond. have you seen "luther"? he's amazing

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What's all this appeasing minorities shit? Idris is amazing and I'd love to see him as Bond. I'm pretty white last I checked. Appease me!

Read first half, about to downvote, read the title, read the second part, Upvoted

11 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 2

why would you downvote OP for sharing someone else's opinion? surely you mean because of OP title?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 10

i've seen people posting this as if it's a serious argument.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Imgurians in the comment section are using the front half as an actual argument against Elba. I'm done.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Mexican would be better.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Machete!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Diego Bonita?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1/3 One of the coolest fan theories about these films is that "James Bond" is a code-name that is handed down from agent to agent. And that

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3/3 "James Bond" has been around for 40 years yet is still in his late 30's/early 40's and that's why his face keeps changing.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

2/3 basically MI6's "James Bond" agent is a sucicidal lunatic with no family whose life expectancy is only a few years. That's why

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Glad I read this completely so gud the words

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And the bond girl for this picture is........Quvenzhané Wallis

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Jesus Christ, why is it every time someone starts talking about a black franchise reboot they HAVE to bring up Idris Elba?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He's the new black?

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

HOLY SHIT HOW DID YOU GET THE THUMBNAIL TO DO THAT.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I had Q work it up for me.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Seriously though, that's amazing.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'll do some more of it then

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, thank Q very much.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Am I alone by thinking it would actually be stupid to make Bond black?I think it's actually a forced change,in sake of political correctness

11 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 9

Hopefully you're the only one that thinks this. They're not considering Elba because of his race, you twat. He's a good actor.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

They're not trying to find a black actor to recast, they're looking at a (fucking awesome) black actor when recasting. Different thing

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

I'd like to see a black Batman, too, if Bond gets such privilege to change ethnic as a character.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah. There are black people in England AND Scotland. Makes sense to me.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I think it's stupid because bond wasn't black. But I think it's even more stupid that people get up in arms about it but don't care if 1/

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

people are whitewashed over and over again in other popular movies. White people should stay white, and black people should stay black. 2/2

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Don't forget that men should stay men and women should stay women, as far as this same topic goes.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Agreed.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

See, black James Bond doesn't bother me. There have been many James Bonds in the past... But a black Annie bothers the fuck out of me.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

:|

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That movie was shit, but not because of the race thing. It was just generally shit.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The first half was on point, then he started the snark. There's no reason to rebrand classic movies and characters to appease minorities.

11 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 10

Exactly. And if we change a minority character into a white one, suddenly we're "whitewashing" the story.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

Look man, how many dudes have been 007 now? With their only shared characteristic being an English accent and white skin?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

How dare the movies stay true to life...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, there's not. Perhaps they're just doing it because Elba is a bloody good actor and defo has the sex appeal of previous Bonds.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Oh god. The author was satiring racists that would use that same argument. Now I realize that there are actually people who think like you.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

This has nothing to do with racism, it's just silly appeasement. If you need a classic character remade, then YOU'RE the racist.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No. You're racist for assuming that they wish to appease minorities in casting Elba. You're making baseless assumptions because of race.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It has everything to do with race because you made it about race. Casting Idris Elba had nothing to do with "appeasing minorities".

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Books do not say he's white. They say he's dark haired, Daniel Craig is blonde, there was no shit storm about that.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 5

Someone's hair colour is not nearly as prominent as their skin colour. There weren't any wars about hair colours, after all.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

but in this context, there is no difference. using the fact there's been wars about skin colour doesn't help your case.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But HAT colours on the other hand...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What are you insinuating? Are you a Blu?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually, I think it was quite big of a deal first time it was announced... At least in Finland. I'll find some links to back me up

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

well i may stand corrected on that, but it's still ridiculous. these things just don't matter.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes there was quite a shit storm when Craig was announced as the new Bond, but Casino Royale shut most up.

11 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

like i've just replied to Kornisti, i may stand corrected on that, but it's still ridiculous. these things just don't matter.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Agreed. At first I was like "What the hell?",but I could see it and think he'd be a great Bond.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There was actually huge blow back from that pic. Craig is arguable the worst Bond actor -- he lacks the suave, gentlemanly swagger.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

However, he does fit the new tone of the films, which are going for a darker Bond. (And yes, gritty Bond is a good thing).

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He lacks his suave charackter on purpose. Casino Royale was the first Bond-Book where he still had to fight his demons. Connery played a 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

later Bond who was already a delveloped charackter. It is all in the books.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But to be fair, in that regard he was perfect for the Casino Royale movie.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's not a bad actor, I just don't see him as Bond. Craig is too brawny and action oriented. He's more of a Jason Statham.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

P.S. Rewatching Crank because you mentioned Statham.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not stating otherwise. But Casino Royale was the caracter becoming Bond, so I think that in that sense Craig was a near perfect fit.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If they can add a love triangle to the Hobbit; they can make james Bond black.

11 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 5

you have my upvote. that was gold

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That they couldn't do. Not well, at least. This, they can.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

but from my understanding, james bond has been the same guy since inception, with the actors changing simply because that's what they do.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well same character I'm sure of. A different actor begets no alternative representation.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

right. So, wouldn't the actor suddenly being black not really work? Same with missing something, big scars, a vajayjay, etc.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You seem to have mistaken my persuasion. The element of Bond does not modify regardless of the vessel holding his likeness.
