This is a huge deal to me! I worked so hard to achieve this. It's a common misconception that Canadian immigration is easy and they "let anyone in". The process was long and difficult; I didn't even get full marks on my English language exam and I'm a Brit!

To any Canadians reading this, I've always loved your country and cannot wait to call it home.

(The nice shirt and pin are sadly not part of the government welcome package)

Hats off to you -- not literally of course as you're now part of our hat and we wouldn't want you thrown off and drowning in the ocean!

Remember, in the UK you drive on the left side of the road. Here in Canada we drive on whats left of the road.

I haven’t taken it yet but there’s a PDF online they provide that has all the topics of Canadian government, law, (1/2)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

founding, etc that they test you on. Study that and they also have like 150 test questions that you can do over and over. (2/2)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Welcome. Nice country, eh?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I recently got PR in Canada. I've migrated here exactly two months ago. Loving it here. Now I need to find a job.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Most employers require "Canadian experience" so you may have to get an entry level job and Canadian education for credentials.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Yeah I believe so. I am applying for entry level positions even though I have 4 years of experience as a software developer.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unless youre from the US or other western countries that have Canadian equivalent or better.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's pretty quick PR, did you go through a refugee program?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh sorry let me explain. I applied 14 months ago . It was a long process. What I got recently is the confirmation of PR.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And I landed here two months ago.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah that makes much more sense, thanks for clarifying. And welcome to the best country!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you so much. I'm loving it here. People are so polite and nice to each other.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now see I was born Canadian living in Massachusetts, want dual citizenship? ;)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is that even legal? Well, if it's only for that, I mean. Know that'd be rather shifty in my country.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What if I'm already a citizen?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then you get that nice UK passport! Though not sure what that'll gain ya post-Brexit

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Never hurts for traveling though :)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just tell them you speak The Peaky Fucking Blinders English.

8 years ago | Likes 117 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Congrats and welcome! I've got a friend from England who didn't get his PR the first time because he couldn't prove he speaks English...

8 years ago | Likes 305 Dislikes 0

How the hell? I did that test. For a native English speaker it's an absolute doddle.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

He would have made it into america.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Our English-literature professor, 4th generation born and raised New-Yorker, chief editor for "English Linguistics", failed that exam twice.

8 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 1

That tells me the test is poorly made.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's hilarious, hope he saw the funny side of it

8 years ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately he's quite anti-immigrant, so as a white English speaking male, he couldn't fathom an issue like this happening to him.

8 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 3

H...how? Hypocrite, or just racist?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Sadly he's racist. He's a Brit who loves Brexit and thinks most immigrants are just trying to leech off the system and be terrorists.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

He'd fit right in over here in America.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry if I’ve picked this up wrong but... is your friend who’s against immigration immigrating?

8 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 1

lol yes. But he's white, and speaks English and isn't Muslim and has an education. He feels he should pretty much be handed citizenship.

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Canadamn he sounds like an arsehole

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Your friend is a racist, not anti-immigrant.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Your friend needs more education bruh

8 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 2

Guy I know hates migrants who come here for a better life. His mum lives in Spain because of the nice weather and she speaks zero Spanish...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was he from Wales?

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

from Tamworth.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Bruh, Wales isn't in England

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Wales isn't in England, correct, however neither Wales or England are the country. Great Britain is the country.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

A lot of people get mixed up with that, I understand it's probably not even relevant but hey, I'm here to educate

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Not true. England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom are countries. Great Britain is an island

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Great Britain is officially a recognised country, United Kingdom is kinda weird, it's a grouping but not a country. Proof? 1/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

England, Wales and Scotland are provinces. We all hold a GB passport
