Floor safe found in newly purchased home.

Dec 8, 2017 10:34 PM

My dad recently purchased a new home. We ripped up the awful flooring and discovered this safe cemented into the floor inside of the basement closet. There was water damage from Hurricane Sandy so it is a bit rusty. No key or combo... We asked the previous owner and they didn't have the slightest clue it was there.

The house was built in the 50s but the safe looks pretty modern to me.

I am expecting nothing but must admit, my Imagination is running wild.

The tools you see were used them to remove the floors and molding around the base of the walls but I am tempted to give it a go at breaking this baby open. Should I break it open or call a locksmith?

Naturally, I will keep you curious imgurians updated when we decide what to do. Fingers crossed!

Obviously the solution is to use explosives to open it

I see these all the time, they usually contain an evil djinn, who will possess the person who frees them.

Angle grinder to the hinges. Safety glasses. And video, shoot video. If there's nothing in there put something interesting inside 1/2

And re-film it. In other words, be SMARTER than Geraldo.

You better follow through with this, you monster!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean, if you want to keep that safe, then call a locksmith, otherwise, crack that open!

My nieghbor cracks safes. You could cut the hinge off with an abrasive grinder. Probably cheaper.

I know a guy that does this sort of thing. You weld a piece of hooked rebar to the door and you crank it like a sardine can.badabingbadaboom

Or you piss off the neighbors and beat it like it owes you money with hammers.

As long as there are ink ribbons so I can save at the typewriter, I'm good.

It looks like a cheap Sentry. So while not impossible, I'm doubtful.

A locksmith will be a couple of Franklin’s to pop it. Just cut the hinge. If you want the hole safe you want a new one anyway, that’s to
