Bird broke I found on the side of the road. He had been clipped by a car. I saw him and stopped, then took him straight to a state-certified wildlife vet in my town. He was solid awesome company.

A birb in need is a fren indeed.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Correct you are! Almost crapped my pants in fear for the first 20 minutes.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He is heckin concerned

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I could tell by the grip he had on my finger. He never broke the skin, though!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

God damn do I love red tails. Thank you for your service to my favorite raptor species, friend.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'll do it every chance I get! They're absolutely beautiful ❤️

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No gloves or anything?! Brave.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I chalk it up to stupidity. Unless bravery kicks in because you didn't die. That thing terrified me. Lol.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Represent the farm bureau, nice !

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Absolutely! My mom is a registered agent, but she likes being their secretary more! They do great things for farmers and their families ❤️

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you for being so compassionate!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I couldn't have left him for the local hawk haters to get him!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I commend you as my family does this type of rehab

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's so awesome! Thank your whole family for me!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Will do

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you for saving me!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

He was such a sweet boy. He didn't want to let me go when I was trying to give him to the vet. I then cried like a weenie.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Keep him!!!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wanted to, but he was government banded. Plus, I really wanted to make sure he was okay. Once I took him, there was no turning back :(

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What state do you live on where they and red tails?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mississippi. They're everywhere here!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hope things turn out well. If not then at least it didn't have to suffer for long.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He was released the next day with a clean bill of health!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's good. :D

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

amazing camouflage

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I agree! Had he not turned his head when he did, I wouldn't have ever seen him.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are a godamn hero

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I try! Thanks ❤️

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

btw looks like a broad-winged hawk. http://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/broad-winged-hawk. Really cool

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gorgeous red tail. Good job taking it to someone!!

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I couldn't bare the thought of not helping him. Plus, I got some really awesome pictures with the dude!

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

If you say pictures and we only see two, then we know you are holding out on us! You point monger!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Only releasing in small batches is no bueno! I want a full album of bird dude to upvote and favorite for later!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honestly I shouldnt be asking this but that's a red tailed hawk right lol. At first I thought a falcon or kestral

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Red tail. Had it been a falcon, I would've learned how to fix it my dang self and told no one. Lol.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Falcons are such huge dicks. Hawks are much nicer. Red tails are a great starter bird for falconers.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm a falconer and the fact that u could hold that bird w/out any gloves says how bad of shape it must have been in. Thanks for helping it!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd do it all again, even without knowing he could eat my arm off. He was dehydrated and stunned, and a little hungry, but nothing broken!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They're less likely to bite you than actually talon the shit out of you. I've had their talons go straight into my skin with no problem!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He gripped my finger just right that it stung, but never broke the skin. I think he was just as scared as I was in that time.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a calm raptor. I had to take a golden eagle in at my last job...it attempted to talon my face.

8 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Hopefully failed! Thanks for being a bro kind of human!

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Thank you for making sure he was alright! This made my evening <3

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And I'm so glad I could do that for you ❤️ I like having fellow wildlife lovers. I don't get in their way of what they do, but I will help.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You’re... you’re my hero.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'd be do it again any day ;)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd do it... See, everything mobile is against me. Lol.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Does it need a bird lawyer?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

TOBIAS???

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hit a juvenile hawk once. I named him Ronnie Hawkins. He was too young to get the joke I guess.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I want to get it, if you'd be so kind :)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There was a musician named Ronnie Hawkins. His nickname was the Hawk. He's in my favorite music documentary The Last Waltz.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks!!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He may just be stunned from the hit. Just contact your local bird rescue and they'll recover it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

4-ish years ago, I called my state's wildlife and Fisheries office and they suggested state-certified vet. Took him there :)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks like a hawk, that's the tamest bird I've ever seen. Those claws and beak can do serious damage.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My butthole was clenched in fear the whole 17 miles to the vet office. I was also driving a 5 speed with only the one arm. True fear.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Glad to hear you didn't get your face ripped off. Always best to cover head and all sharp parts with a shirt or blanket to keep them calm.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I sadly didn't have anything in my truck to do so with, so I figured worst case scenario I'd stop fast and let him out to fly away lol.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What kind of puppy is that?

8 years ago | Likes 103 Dislikes 2

Danger zone puppy

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The murder chicken kind

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Claw puppy!

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Flappy danger doggo

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Sky Puppy.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

A good boy ❤️

8 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 0

It looks like a mature red-tail. Probably male judging by the size.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Danger sky puppy

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I stopped for an owl that was hit once, it was stunned too so i walked up to it and it jumped on my arm and let me walk it away.. 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

off the road. I learnt that day why bird of prey handlers have looong leather gloves.. glad i saved it, but those talons hurt!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can definitely understand! I have another picture somewhere of a better angle of this guy's and how they're just tight enough! I'll look!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"He" looks like a little girl bird baby

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm generic. If I can't tell with an animal, it's automatically a boy to me, lol.I'd rather call her a good boy than him a her incorrectly??

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, there was supposed to be a laughy face at the end of that statement, lol. Oh well.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It just let you grab it like that? Lucky bird

8 years ago | Likes 415 Dislikes 4

Grab ‘em by the birdy.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

"He rode next to me in the front seat. The whole trip just sat there minding his own falcon business..."

8 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 0

Hahaha, I love the commentary. He wouldn't let me set him down, and I was too terrified to try to out my seat belt around us.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I did this for a seagull that was hit by a car. A feathered friend is a feathered friend. I'm not a birdcist.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

I'm so glad you feel that way. I helped a seagull at Cedar Point in Ohio get some dinner. He had broken his bill, so I ran the others off.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

After getting them gone, he was able to collect bits to eat. I hate I couldn't actually help his bill though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If they're really sick or injured a lot of birds will just be too out of it to put up much resistance also due to stress they can shut down

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I've tried saving humming birds and robins that fell ill, but as soon as I'd pick them up, it was like a seizure and they'd croak. So sad.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Depends on the species, some are really prone to dying from stress

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I found after living by the sea and finding sick birds now and again that if theyr in trouble or pain they'll let u pick them up no bother

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I'd just be too scared it will snap at me and rip my flesh to bits with that sharp huge beak lol

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But good to know that I dont need to be in case I find an immobilized birdy :D

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was so incredible that he let me. Generally when you think of hawks, you think of scary flesh-eaters. I cried in awe. I admit it.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Thank u for taking the time to help u know he's really hurt before he lets u aswell :( do u know how he is ?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He was completely stunned. He would turn his head to look at me, and hold onto my finger for dear life, but he never once bit at me

8 years ago | Likes 460 Dislikes 1

That’s so awesome

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Awwww pretty bird!

8 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 0

He was well behaved, also. I talked softly to him the whole way into town (I lived in the county) and he just looked up at me the whole way!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds like he had a wealth of trust in you... or paralized by fear.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude bitten is not what your worried about sure it hurts but those talons will open you up without you even noticing

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Glad u ok doe

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks! Yeah, the talons were way more intimidating than his beak. Those suckers are his first line of defense And offense!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

keep him,if you can.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 12

Ummm no

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Raptors by and large are considered protected species.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Better start apprenticing in falconry!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I could totally fall in love with that job. Lol.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That means he is probably poisoned, or so badly malnourished that he's just waiting to die...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With some dinner, water, and rest until the next day, the vet said he was as good as new. He did a full check on him, though. Clean bill!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nice! I'm glad to hear that. Majestic birds

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you sooo much for taking him to someone who knows what they’re doing. Too many people try it themselves.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I knew I wasn't going to benefit him, and I was also too terrified to try. He was a good boy, mostly because he was too stunned to hurt me.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s ok though. You benefited him by doing the right thing. I volunteer at a wildlife hospital and while I love seeing people who want 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To help, wildlife has super specific needs but pet care experience doesn’t cut it. They need proper help.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I absolutely agree with that. Just like they say you can't feed a domesticated snake wild mice for fear of poisons that it...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The wild snake's body could process. I have a mini sanctuary for lesser loved creatures. They're domestic, but not everyone loves tarantulas

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Any news on their status?

8 years ago | Likes 120 Dislikes 0

He was delicious.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 7

Oh come on. Lol.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He was treated for dehydration and kept for observation overnight, released the next day with a clean bill of health. Nothing was broken :)

8 years ago | Likes 269 Dislikes 1

Good on you for rescuing/saving its life.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did you have to pay any money?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You will never have to pay any money for being a good Samaritan and bringing an injured or sick animal you find to a vet.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Shoulda trained it to bring you food/electronics/money

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Or killed it and deep fried it with a nice dipping sauce on the side!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Good. I've had to kill birds with broken wings before. No one will take them in and they won't ever heal right :(

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My dad always had to be the one to do that for me. He died right before I found this guy. They were his favorite ❤️

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also, he was a good boy. He didn't even try to hurt the vet, but he didn't want to leave me, for some reason.

8 years ago | Likes 257 Dislikes 1

That is awesome. Raptors are phenomenally cool, and I am happy you were around to help him

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I was so glad I got him before one of the local hawk haters found him first

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Some Birds are extremely intelligent. I dont know much about hawks, but my parrot screams for me when she's stuck somewhere. Maybe not that

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Smart though, seeing how she gets stuck a lot in the same places

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

To him you will always be The Falconer.

8 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

The Captain Falcon H'YES!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's no scorpion hawk...

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Oh hi. Rare to find other people that have read any Locke Lamora. Gold star to you.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Thank you! I'm glad someone recognised it

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You are the giant, mystical being who carried him gently to rescue.

8 years ago | Likes 145 Dislikes 0

Dude. Writing prompt? A bird religious experience?

8 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

Clearly this is Tobias

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Uhg! My childhood! You can't just casually throw my emotions around like this!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0
