Feeling useless and shitty. Things don't look like they are ever gonna get better.

edit- This morning I felt like pure trash. You people are the most amazing folks out there. I can't thank you enough for the positive thoughts and the resources that I will utilize to move forward safely. I honestly can't thank you all enough. In my time of need everyone is willing to give me the emotional support I need. I've been in tears reading some of your comments, and I hate to admit that most of all. No guy likes to admit he has feelings....

edit2- I see a lot of people asking where I live. I am in Las Vegas, NV.

What state are you in? Send me a private message and I will try and help you with a job. I am not yanking your chain. Do it.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Can't give advice on your life but Iowa has jobs coming out of the ying yang. $10-$15 hour starting. Maybe that would help.

"Local veteran found punching the ground in his backyard. When asked why, he said 'imgur told me to'. Police are still investigating."

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What state do you live in?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Las Vegas, NV

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'm in phx, and as shitty as it is they still offered vocational rehab. Btw I went through mental health to get there

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Have you considered moving to DC and using your talents there? I know 25 million people who would be happy no matter who you kill

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Look, in the past week I've lost two guys in my platoon (I'm out now) to suicide. Killing yourself if NEVER the answer!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The Veterans Crisis line is full of people whose driving factor in life is to help us get through the tough times, you can also text 838255.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The day that I decided to help myself and completely humble myself to accept help was the day my life changed for the better.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That was 2.5 years ago, and it is the single best choice i have ever made in my life. I now possess the tools to deal with life's shit.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Please call someone, call anyone, be humble and know that in humility there is strength. This feeling will pass.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You ARE strong brother, you've proven that by your service. No one can ever take that away from you.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm a veteran with suicidal thoughts as well. Best thing i can say is just take things one day at a time and get yourself treatment. *hugs*

8 years ago | Likes 177 Dislikes 1

Text 741741 if you ever want to talk to a counselor. It helped me

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 year vet here. Mine have been going away with new meds. Make an appt with the V.A mental health. Im on Gabapentin btw. Good luck bro.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude as a fellow vet get some help please. Without my therapist I would have shuffled off the mortal coil too.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I gotta ask, what are we defining as suicidal thoughts? I often think about how/what it would be like to take my own life, but I would -

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

- never do it. Does the intent to carry it out make one "suicidal" or is the mere thought a qualifier?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I suffer with depression, and my therapists have called thinking about depression without intention "suicidal ideation".

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I consider it all to be suicidal, but different levels of intensity or concern.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Check out Girls for Gunslingers. Large Vet support group made up mostly of Vets, and a few lovely ladies who will be glad to offer any 1/

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Help they can. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Honestly just being out of work with zero hope of getting a job is making things 100x worse.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Depending on where you're at, there may be someone in the group that can help! Look them up on Facebook, and make a post.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I haven't used Facebook in quite some time. Mostly because it's so toxic. Kind of why I stopped playing games online.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I understand. But this is kinda what they do. They help veterans, especially those who are feeling as you are.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you tried vocational rehabilitation? Your local va can give you a referral.

8 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

I haven't even heard of that shit. The VA is just a maze of anger and resentment for me.

8 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 1

I'm enrolled in Voc Rehab in Albuquerque. They're paying for my school and bills. Easy to apply online. Then they'll have you come for eval.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You might have to go through the mental health clinic part of the va. But they help you get a job. And most work with places who'll hire you

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Think about it objectively. There is something about the process of transitioning that causes this. It is not you or something about you 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Please speak with someone who can help you so that you can overcome this period in your life. You'll get there with help 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Honestly talking to the VA and trying to get help makes my PTSD worse.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

You're not the only one at all. Keep hanging in there, and remember this isn't just you at all. Transitioning is brutal.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's resources out there other than the VA. I highly recommend you talk to Battle in Distress over on facebook.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

What're you good at?

8 years ago | Likes 136 Dislikes 3

Killing

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 15

If you have done CS work might I suggest working for an airline? They are almost always hiring. And you should pass a back ground check easy

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Brother I'm right there with you. My default has always been warehouse. Been hunting since February after leaving restoration. Just got.....

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Signed on today to a solid company with all the benefits... I say that to say this, keep chugging there is light at the end of it!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

@op what do you enjoy doing?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honestly I enjoy being active, working warehouses was fun and kept me busy. The only other job I loved was QA for 2K games.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are tons of warehouse jobs out there!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yea the hard part is getting a response

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck dude, I need a project manager right the fuck now. If you're in Southern California message me.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm in southern Nevada. I can definitely get out there.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey man, Without going into too much detail about where exactly you live, can you give a region or area you'd be willing to relocate to? I

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Again, just want to know a little about where you currently live or are willing to move to. Lots of us know people everywhere..

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've done warehouse work, stage work, customer service, QA and a whole host of other things. I learn pretty quickly.

8 years ago | Likes 142 Dislikes 2

If you're in Colorado, pm me. If not, helmets to hardhats is a great resource for vets.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Temp agencies have lots of warehouse jobs, that will sometimes hire on after. Even if they don't the work is distracting, and a paycheck!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I heard Amazon is hiring for a new warehouse in Chicago area, not sure where you're from but figured I'd mention. Good luck, stay positive!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Stage work is a good place to start buddy. I've been in the arts for 20 years and it's a hell of a community. Best of luck to you.

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I've worked as a roadie, but I get really bad social anxiety, either I have to be really drunk or high to even go to concerts these days

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Being a roadie is for young guys and masochists. Look into theatre instead of music. It's WAY more chill and super accepting.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It doesn't sound good for ya mate

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The roadie life

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fellow veteran here. If you need work, apply at some temp agencies in town. After that ask the VA about vocational training. This will get

8 years ago | Likes 99 Dislikes 1

You started. Consider picking up a trade.

EXACTLY what I was going to say.
