Historic experiences vary from modern opportunities. Today we have major freedom, choice and information. Your mind needs more than 100 years to learn and create with the unlimited tools we now have. Imagine having the tools to build a better world, we have it now but it takes time to wrestle away the hangover of deadly ancestral negative behaviours.
Quality of life. Understand it before it's too late. Because none of us know how long we live, think, if you made it to age 50, chances are you have fewer good years ahead of you than you do behind you. Time to catch up on all the shit you wanna do while your body can still take it.
He seems so sad. I want everyone to feel happy (at least most of the time) and to feel like they're important, because we are, even in a small way- like to our pets, plants, or a project we're working on <3
I miss my grandpa ... in hindsight he gave me the best life advice ... I realized this much later ... so sit down all you whippersnappers and listen to your elders as they were young like you before ... even if they tell you stories about "belt onions"
Life goes on. No matter what you do and that is liberating. No matter how hard one tries, it will not mean anything anyway. So do'nt waste time on finding a meaning. There is none except for the one you assign in that moment.
I think we should begin life as a 100yo and age backwards. Get stronger and fitter as years go on. Play golf and relax for 30yrs, then get a job. Start as the President and work your way down to the office boy. Go to school for a while and finally finish life as an orgasm.
I was in a similar situation. Best advice I can give is to go find an activity. Bowling, kickball, pickleball softball, drink and draw, doesn't matter. Something around people. You'll make new friends.
I volunteer for hospice. I have one patient that I see. His wife has alzheimers, all his friends are dead, he lives in a 5th wheel cause he sold his house to his daughter and she ended up screwing him over. He's lonely and lives outside of town but the friendliest and kindest man ever and he just sits there and watches his best friend die. He's not the only one I've encountered with this issue. Enjoy life, look at the clouds, take a deep breath, hug your loved ones
I am taking care of my best friend’s 97 year old grandmother.
Still cooks and takes care of herself, I do the grocery shopping and get her to her appointments and cover something like $900 a month of bills that her Social Security check doesn’t cover.
Power, phone, med. insurance. Etc.
She can barely see and hear but she keeps pushing on. I take her to visit great grandkids now and then.
I am currently sitting here holding my mothers hand while she dies. In notifying our family and friends, it was sad to see how many were already gone—with only a very few left.
I'm in my 40s and my father passed away at 54 and my mother decided to peace out at 75 last February after her third stroke (after basically brushing off the first two and doing her work as usual). On my father side they were 14 kids (10 remaining)... all my aunts and uncles are close or already 80 years old, once they start to drop, it will be non-stop funerals for a while. Not looking forward to that.
I'm 92. As a young man, my attention was caught by Mark Twain's comment, "My only regrets are temptations I resisted." I'll go him one step further. My happiest and most satisfying experiences have been the temptations I've succumb to.
In theory, sure. Not always how the world is. Also, making new friends take time, energy and effort - who knows how much of that we have left at 80+ years of age...
Maybe when I get older. I love dogs, grew up with them and my family still has them. But they require a lot of time, which is why for now I prefer a cat.

I understand the need of mobility, but bro really should not drive a car any more, it's just a risk for everyone else

Well after 4 hours, you should see a doctor.

Find the thing you love and let it kill you. It might mean you live a short life, but if you are truly happy then it was worth it.

I can't imagine life without my friends and family. They're a major part of why I feel happy and not lonely, despite choosing to be single.

Grandmother is 107. Friends died, family died, car died, doctors died. If it wasn't for the Dodgers, she would be super lonely. Sad
