FACTORIO

Steam page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/427520/
Gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzOrGpcy1Zg

Factorio is a game about automation and survival. You start as a simple engineer that crash landed on a foreign planet with nothing more than some iron and a couple pieces of equipment. Your objective is to survive, harvest resources, and eventually get off the planet!
The game can be very zen and has a peaceful mode for those that don't wish to be bothered by the local monsters. I highly recommend if you enjoy micromanagement or base building.

RimWorld

Steam page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/294100/
Gameplay: https://www.twitch.tv/sovietwomble/v/105755575

RimWorld is, you guessed it, about building a base and getting off the planet. The key differences between RimWorld and Factorio though is in RimWorld you are given a handful of colonists to manage and direct rather than having direct control over just one character. It is an incredibly complex game where NPCs can have addictions, hopes, dreams, quirks, missing limbs, etc! Both games do involve building a base but RimWorld plays more like The Sims, but with guns, violence, and diseases!

Axiom Verge

Steam Page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/332200/
Game Play: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agtdE2oqQ88

Axiom Verge takes inspiration from Half-Life in that you are a scientist that finds themselves dealing with an alien threat. After an experiment gone wrong the main character finds themselves in what appears to be another dimension and must find out just what is going on and how to get back home. (I'm sensing a theme here...) Axiom Verge is a metroid-vania style game that quickly pulls the player in with its story telling in an effort to find out just what the hell is going on. It includes many weapons, upgrades, and plenty of interesting large boss fights. If you enjoyed classics such as Super Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night then you will greatly enjoy Axiom Verge.

Factorio is like cocaine , according to steam charts , its 4th highest rated game on steam , portal 2 as contrary is nr 2

If you enjoy Axiom Verge, consider checking out Environmental Station Alpha. Similar gameplay based on Metroid with an extensive post-game.

Factorio has been really fun to play. I wish I could be as good with my automation as some of the tutorials... maybe someday

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I cannot start Factorio, or else I will never stop.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Rimworld....

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have played Axiom Verge but Factorio seems really interesting. I should pick it up someday.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Talking about rimworld but not Dwarf Fortress, which it is essentially based off of. for shame.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Factorio and Rimworld! You have to try it! Awesome games.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Space Engineers, Shores of Hazeron, TA Spring

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had to step away from Space engineers. Its development went away from what I liked, which is fine, but the game just isn't for me anymore.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just watched sovietwombles Rimworld play through and all I can say is womble is a faggot

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Upvoted for Factorio - I see conveyor belts in my dreams... or you know, whenever I close my eyes...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

oh thank fuck its not just me x_x those fucking bottles, man...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've been playing Rimworld for years, since the KS alpha. It's one of the best games of the last decade. Factorio is also amazing.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'll show you rimworld

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can show you Rimwooorld. Princess, when did you last get a thrumbo hide?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is Rimworld made by the same devs as Prison Architect?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, but i think it uses the same graphics, or at least a very similar style.

Favorited to check later.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Axiom Verge draws a lot more from Metroid than from Half-life.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

A whooooooooooooole lot more. Those tilesets are gorgeous. I could've done without the forced plot twist, but it was great otherwise.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Try ftl faster than light

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

+1 love that game.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Convoy is very similar, but shorter.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Axiom Verge was fantastic. Weird-ass Geiger-ish artstyle, fantastic music, great gameplay and story.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Environmental Station Alpha is similar in gameplay and excellent. Highly recommend

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

God i love the soundtrack

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And was made by only one guy

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Rimworld??? *clears browser history*

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

All good stories about RimWorld start with: "Okay, so one of my guys snapped one day..."

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Or the prequel: "Some random event spawned..."

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My armless, senile, neurotic, plague-infested one-leg miner got sad after eating his dead wife and went nuts. Everyone got sad killing him.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

my artist made a statue of two people screwing, they broke up shortly after. The artist then made a statue of them breaking up.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yep that sounds about right. And then we have this

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

we all handle hardship in our own ways.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I definitely recommend Factorio, but, I only recommend it to those who like to build things. It gets pretty intense at higher levels. (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Higher level stuff, a guy built a vid player in the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgfwwqwxdxY

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Holy shit! I didn't realise it could get that complex, seen peoples superfactories and so on but this is just whole new level!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*nods* Most I ever did was an output flow control that filled up my oil tanks on a timer.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My most complicated feat was probably a 3 platform train station with 3 trains going to 3 destinations all on same track.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can't fathom how insane that is

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you want less paying for things, winning, and UI, try Dwarf Fortress.

9 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 0

.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also gnomoria

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dwarf Fortress made me hate myself

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I will never forget breaching the caverns too early and losing a fort of 20 to an elephant with spider legs that spit poison webs.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Dorfs dorfs dorfs

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Dem dorfs man, dem fuckin' dorfs.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you're unaccountably afraid of goldfish, you should change your name to Urist "Urist" McUrist.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Dwarf is better than rimworld but the initial learning hump is worse and likely to result in fun

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Where is all the DF on imgur?? It's insane.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Could have descriptions of the more interesting bugs: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CqyJexUWAAEeWNY.jpg

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

It's a very niche game. I doubt most people even knows it exists, and won't even know what it's supposed to be when they see it.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I guess you could repost some of the artwork from the Bay12 forums and it might get some upvotes, though.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're a niche game. >:(

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sure it's hard, but it's not that hard. Pretty easy to set up a sustaining base, then the rest is where you have fun.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well when you have no idea what you are doing and there is no guide in game, it can be rather daunting. Rimworld at helps you get stable.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plus that image is from years ago, pre imgur IIRC. I had to reference it here.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didn't realize wealth attracted raiders. Always went for steel for defense, but you can't train soldiers as fast as the bad guys come.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can train drawbridges pretty quickly though.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I never relied on an army early game. Always just made massive drawbridge+spike trap pits and dunked seiges.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Factorio is definitely worth checking out!

9 years ago | Likes 254 Dislikes 0

Absolutely. Love this game. Lan parties ftw

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

DO NOT PLAY FACTORIO, IT IS A TIME WARP, YOU WILL PLAY FOR AN HOUR AND HAVE GRANDKIDS

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1200 hours so far. Currently playing a heavily moded game and still have loads to do. More addicting than smoking. Send help

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

look up KatherineOfSky on youtube, she does lovely videos on how to play the game. one such video is Entry Level to Megabase.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have put way too many hours or days into Factorio

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it was fun, but I grew bored of it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Read the funny comments on steam, they is an essay that is my life.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i don't even allow me to start it when i have something important to do, such as wake up early or meeting someone

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There is a free demo on the website which is nice. https://www.factorio.com/demo

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ill be checking this. Thankyou!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I spent 5 hours on the demo during a car trip but didn't have the money to buy it so I lost all my work ;-;-;-;

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My first factory has about 30hrs and has so much shit going on I haven't a clue what half of it is doing anymore

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

AUTOMATE EVERYTHING!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

AUTOMATE THE UPPVOTES

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

BEWARE: Factorio will sap the life out of you. Such an addicting game!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

its true. i stay up late every night. its ruined my sleep schedule U_U

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Definitely worth checking out if you're unemployed, not in school, and don't need sleep. Otherwise, one of those things will happen to you.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

definitely

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it's a drug

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Pure crack!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks lightweight, any guess if it would run on my dead slow atom netbook?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

in the beginning maybe but things get super complex and ive crashed a few times in mid-game on my desktop

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I played it pretty reliably on my $250 laptop, but I would suggest playing it from a server with friends, let stronger comps do the lifting.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

From FAQ, minimum specs: "1GB RAM, 512MB dedicated video memory, 1280x720 screen resolution. You also require a 64-bit operating system."

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not with the mods, I'll tell you that much.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love Factorio. Steam rating "Overwhelmingly Positive."

9 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

The wording for ratings on steam are useless the percentage is what matters.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the wording is a reflection of the percentage.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I believe the rating is something like 98 or 99%!

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

My favorite game is Factorio

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

SteamDB says it's the 5th highest rated game on steam. For a while though it was #2 (I wish I got a screenshot)

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

@op i want it but it never goes on sale and never ever will :c

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It gets crazy with the mods.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Never tried mods. What do you recommend?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you want super complex with lots more inserters?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Super complex is great!! As long as it's not tedious BS

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it an easy game to pick up? Looks pretty complex from just watching videos and such.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I should also mention there is a demo available on the website. https://www.factorio.com/demo

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Start playing the missions and you will get a hang of it pretty fast.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Right on thank you.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No problem. If you like problem solving and puzzle solving logistics and tower defense games this can be all of that.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

also, play with a friend! while drinking! double the building and science, double fun...and trouble. its magic.
