More and more I see young people starting their tattoo journey on places of their bodies that will make it very hard to find any sort of meaningful employment. I’ll often ask them “why did you start with your hands” many times the answer is silly, but the truth is so they can wear long sleeve shirts and look as though they have a lot of work done.
.
And what’s worse is when they get large tattoos on their face.
.
I know I sound like an old man, and I am.
.
However- in retrospect, I probably wouldn’t have gotten tattooed in places that couldn’t be covered up with a regular t shirt-
.
Because people DO STILL LOOK AT YOU like a scumbag, even when you’re not.
.
Sorry- but that’s just the way it is.
.
Now, I will say that the stigma has changed a lot over the last 20 years-
.
However, we aren’t there yet.
.
So to the kids with “swag” tattooed on your forehead-
If you’re not planning on working in a tattoo shop- or in any other sort of ‘counter culture’ environment- be used to hearing this phrase:
.
“I’m sorry, but we’re not hiring right now”
.
And I know you’re not worried about that right now, but someday- you will be.
.

Ive got tattoos on my fore arms, luckily im an archaeologist, so there is no real stigma, but i agree counter work would be impossible

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Hey! I am too! Work near Cahokia

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work near london

LHow is archaeology across the pond? I work for a state natural resource company. Mostly Mississippian, Woodland, Archaic, and “early” hist!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work with neolithic to victorian depending where i am, its quite varied

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I saw a dude with Suck My Balls in old English script across his neck, collar bone to jaw, ear to ear. I’m guessing he wasn’t an accountant

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

People with face tats aren't scum, but 99% of the face tats I've seen have informed me the person is a god damned moron.

7 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 2

I’ve never seen a good face tatt. The skin is different and the ink always settles like trash there.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The only face tattoo I've seen and liked is Katrina Jades.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Well she is stunningly beautiful and it sorta accents her hairline there so.. fair enough.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I like Kat Von D's stars.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

ah yea you're right her stars are really cute. I think the key is, small, simple, and close to being not actually on your face. lol

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And in her line of work it's not like she made a dumbass decision

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As much as I don't like to discriminate based on appearances, if your face is heavily tattooed, there's a good chance I won't like you.

7 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 3

i just have a tramp stamp of guy Fieri

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Ever notice most of he people who do it aren’t counter culture but more kinda I thought it would me me look hard/cool vibe.

The guy who makes my coffee has a face tatt. He's tough in a, "Do you want skim or whole milk?" Sort of way.

7 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 0

so pretty fuckin tough

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

A guy who made my tacos this weekend has face tats. I'm like....but why

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have a friend who has a pretty bad complex where she assumes everyone is judging her for her tattoos and dress- but she kind of dresses (1

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Slutty and keeps getting these huge honking tattoos. I don't understand how she assumes everyone is judging her and gets upset about it but2

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Only gets MORE tattoos and wears mesh tops? Btw they're just harmless comments like "Aren't you cold?" wearing barely anything in winter.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Or just sticking it to the man kind of thing

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not having tattoos is the new counter-culture.

7 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 4

Actually that's still the majority so no.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

My day has come! Woo?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same, wanted one for a while but then realized I can't commit to something that permanent. Good call

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No ink, traditional haircut, suit to work - punks not dead!

7 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Polo, cargo pants, socks, sandals, and a smile.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Shirtless polo? Wouldn't the mud get everywhere, then itchy?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s like getting a fashionably cool haircut - but it lasts for the rest of your life...

7 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

How big of a swastika should I get on my face as my first tattoo? I work in a 9-5 business setting.

7 years ago | Likes 91 Dislikes 1

Depends, do you work for the daily mail?

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Or Daily Heil as my hippy mate loves to call it :P

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Do you vote Republican? I hear they're hiring new staff.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

Haha politics!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's more of a reference to the "Google says Republicans are Nazis" thing. https://www.wired.com/story/google-search-california-gop-nazism/

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

If it doesn’t cover your entire face it’s too small.

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

This will make you a shoe-in for that Trump internship

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

At least six inches - anything else points to a lack of determination - which is an important leadership trait...

7 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

You can't say you are willing to go the distance unless it reaches ear to ear.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I work with a guy who dropped a few hundred starting his Dragonball themed sleeve, while his teeth are yellow and broken.. dude priorities!

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I don't think many people have to drop10k+ on a full smile fix.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Friend in HS tattooed the 007 game cartridge from N64 across his chest. Tried to talk him out of it. We’re 40 now & I still laugh at him...

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Needed to be said and means more coming from someone who is heavily tattooed.

7 years ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 3

But all the decisions you make in your teens/early 20s always age well!

7 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Fun fact, if anyone has a tattoo that says family, loyalty, or respect anywhere on their body they are 95% more likely to be a criminal

7 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Possibly a Neo-Nazi as well. Those terms get used a lot in that particular culture.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

My old tattoo artist called knuckle tattoos "job-breakers".

7 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 1

I have knuckle tats, never stopped me from getting a job

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mine calls hand or face tattoos "everlasting job stoppers." I laughed out loud first time I heard it.

7 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 2

That's a good one. I know one successful person with them and he is my tattoo guy. I know about 5 who don't do shit.

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

1)I've got a tree tattooed on my ring finger (wife has a matching tree) and it's only ever provoked curiosity for me. Then I get to talk

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

My partner and I are debating getting matching ring-type tattoos, so I wondered about this.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

1)I'm super happy with mine. If you do go with tattoos over rings I highly recommend getting something that is specific and meaningful to

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2)the two of you. Everyone seems to get hearts, rings, or each others initials to the point where they've all become clichéd. Plus if by

2)about my wife and I which usually ends in an "awww that's so sweet" because I'm charming and we've been together since high school. I've

3)never had an issue with employment because of it, though it isn't exactly gnarly looking and it's just the one.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Pretty sure he means people who tattoo individual letters on their knuckles.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Fair enough.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I knew a guy who got a tattoo on his leg. Looked cool on the beach, and when wearing trousers at work, you can't see it.

7 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 4

It’s not fun being in a professional environment in the summer and HAVING to wear long sleeved collard shirts when everyone else isn’t.

7 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

As a tradesman, it's largely irrelevant. One more perk of the trades.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Didn't think of this... Definitely gonna bear in mind for any future tattoos!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You'd think people would think a lot before getting a tattoo. But really it seems they don't

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The father of my grandchildren is that guy. The "No Ragrets" kind of scumbag which pains me.

7 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

FIL?

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Son-in-law, more likely, her grandkids' dad.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

U'm old. What is "FIL"?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Father in law

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

*I'm old.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

"Father-in-law"...they're asking if you're their father-in-law

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh! My daughter never married the guy, so no, I am not

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I know a person at work who would get tattoos done because they are on sale. I kid you fucking not. She has her own name tattooed on 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

I don’t think you need to be in the navy to get Nautical tattoos. I want an anchor and a origami dolphin.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Herself as well as a quote she thought up. My father who has been in the navy 18 fucking years has No nautical tattoos. This dumb dumb 2/3

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Has 3 of them. 3/3

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Some people just like the pain... it can be a kind of high.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Maybe she has a relative in the Navy. I have a nautical themed tattoo for my father, who WAS a sailor.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Not at all I've know her for almost 5 years now.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I've never said this before, but these kids need to learn from the Yakuza. They've got heavy tattoos all over their body (1)

7 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Except for their hands and face. That way, when they wear a suit, no one can tell.

7 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

We can all learn from the Yakuza.

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

I don't mind tattoos. But I wouldn't want to hire someone with face/hand tattoos since it showcases poor decision making and planning skills

7 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 3

Do you like reading shit like 'Atlas Shrugged'?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(In your opinion). I have no tattoos, but I've hired a number of people who were perfectly average looking, no visible tattoos, /1

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 6

And were awful employees. I'd give a face tattooed person an equal shot if their resume/CV measured up and interview went well. /2

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

Yes, but what kind of business are you in?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Wholesale consumer products, office jobs basically.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't mind tattoos, and I definitely would hire someone with face/hand tattoos since it doesn't showcase anything negative whatsoever.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

Where do you think a first timer should get a tattoo? Of course, this could depend on how big and what is tattooed

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Conceable, so above the elbows, below the neckline.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anywhere that can be covered. Foot, back, chest, shoulder, leg... You can show them off with friends, at the beach, etc.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Welcome Aboard! on the wiener is a great choice. God, Down Periscope was 1996? I feel old suddenly.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

On a friend. Get a friend drunk and take them to get the tattoo you want. That way you can see it from an outside perspective if you like it

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

upper arm is a good choice. if it's high enough and small enough, you can even cover it with a tshirt sleeve

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got my first on my rib cage. No tattoo will ever hurt worse than that lol.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Got mine on my spine and it touched my shoulder blades. Fuck it hurt on bone.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Both of mine are on my shoulder/upper arm. Covered with a basic t-shirt, but easy to show off when I want.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wherever has the most flesh.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My first is on my back and is only a 3x3, simple. A good toe in the water for me personally. They have gotten more intricate over the years.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

EXIT ONLY, left butt cheek

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Why not exit on the left only on the right side. It could be way bigger.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Perfect, I am directionally challenged

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m skeptical about getting any tattoos at all. I’m 20 and it’s rare you find someone these days without a single tattoo.

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

nearly 38 here, and I've never gotten one, because I don't see any personal reason to ever do so.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eventually, they will go out of fashion and only old people will have tattoos.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

26, don't have any tattoos, not planning to get any tattoos.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I’m an artist and I have 0. It’s odd, but it’s a mental thing for me to be a “blank canvas.”

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I agree, I love expressing my creativity, but my tastes and mediums change, glad I can just put the old things away.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think it means something and I like it

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m old (39) & probably in the minority, but I don’t “get” tats. There’s nothing I love enough to have it drawn on my skin forever

7 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Why live then?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Fuck if I know

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's fair. Same reason my husband hasn't ever had an interest in it. No problem on other people, just not for him.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Exactly. Though I’m don’t find them super attractive on the opposite sex. Depends on placement. But that’s just a preference. No judgement

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think they look cool but having something pointless or even important to me feels a bit vain.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I would rather the art hang on my wall. But that’s just me. To each their own

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As an employer, it's a signifier. And that signifier is "poorly thought out life decisions" that likely would carry over to other things.

7 years ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 13

As an employer, how much do you steal from your employees?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I get that... but this is circular logic. Really, it is only a poorly thought out life decision because employers will see it that way..

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Ah, yeah, that too. I was a business owner dealing with the buying public and I would NEVER have hired anyone with a visible tattoo,

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 6

As a person, your comment signifies to me that your a prick

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

*you’re

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Unless the tattoo has function like medical info/condition, it's usually a cry for attention. Like padding for a subpar personality.

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 9

What if they got them as a teenager?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I try not to judge on having tattoos; instead, I judge on content and placement.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

I absolutely agree.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've had friends get denied by artists for hands and necks and faces because the artist made them go think about. They all said it's a --

7 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

It’s common for tattoo artists to reject face and hand pieces.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Any artist worth their salt turns those down if they’re first/second tattoos. The one who take them aren’t quality/responsible artists.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

--changer. Even though tattoos are getting more accepted, the artist says it's still a pretty big statement for most people.

7 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

My artist won't do hand tattoos at all.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Misread as "won't do tattoos at all" and thought what a hardcore artist.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've seen an artist make a guy learn about cover-up and foundation makeup because he reeeeally wanted a face tattoo

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've seen 1 hand tattoo that was awesome, a few measurements on side of her finger, she's a seamstress.

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Ha, a practical tattoo, as long as it doesn't distort too much.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I even got turned down on a small wrist tattoo until I told them it was for my mom. I still haven’t gotten it.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You didn't ask but I have a wrist tattoo! Super easy to cover with long sleeves or a thicker bracelet. I hope you get one if it still feels

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Important to you.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I still am yes! I have my fitbit always on and when I get my Apple Watch it will cover it. But even when I’ve worked in doctors offices they

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

have been okay if it was small and socially acceptable.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think tattoos are much more accepted than they once were. However, face and neck are still off limits if you want a job.

7 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 7

I've got a huge binary tattoo on my neck, I dont cover it, but I work in IT. Half sleeve is also visible in work attire.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Neck is getting there also (mostly depending on the specific tattoo).

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

also location! a small tattoo behind your ear or on the back of your neck is moe accepted than a full- throat piece.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've actually seen quite many cashiers with face tattoos lately in Finland. I think people here tend to look more at the CV than appearance.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

They're probably not as strict when hiring cashiers as they are when hiring people for desk jobs.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Store manager in West Virginia had multiple tattoos on his face. In an area where meth was a table condiment, but still.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I dealt with a bank teller recently who had tattoos on her face, neck, and chest, all clearly visible.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Noy quite true, my co worker had her fingers and hands done and her while neck was done up. And this was a gov't job too

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Rare.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

How about a small one behind the ear?

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

face tattoos are great for identifying people i don't want to ever talk to, though. so they serve a function at least

7 years ago | Likes 1567 Dislikes 49

You're part of the problem.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 8

Life is challenging enough already. Lol

7 years ago | Likes 247 Dislikes 1

Out of all the people I've met with face tattoos, the ones making a positive contribution to society is a small minority.

7 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 0

well, i think of it as the person removing themselves from the job market at the very least so, there's that

Best comment I've seen in weeks...

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

especially when it says SWAG over the forehead.....

7 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Confederate flags do that for me too

7 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

Companies hiring employees to interact with customers face to face all day are absolutely going to say 'No thanks' to those with face tats.

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

as a bonus it virtually eliminates any chances of getting bogged down in a low paying job... or any job for that matter

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Glad someone else said this. To me, it takes a certain type of person who would want those/get them. And most cases, that type of person is>

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

not someone who would be agreeable with me. Though I'll avoid half body covered as well, depending on what they end up being. 2/2

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

One of the sweetest, kindest men I know has face tattoos. And if thats enough to keep you away well, good, don't want you around anyway.

7 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 50

Agreed

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 22

Ok Mike Tyson, you go now. And please don't K.O. me on your way out.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Glad the feelings mutual

7 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

It's always weird finding those little areas where Imgur goes from forward thinking, welcoming and pleasant to being full of absolute shits.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I include facial piercings as well... imho, you were dumb enough to pierce your FACE, you're too dumb to talk to

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is just sad

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The exception being if that person is Māori/Polynesian. That's a whole other thing. >>

7 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

Yeah but their face tats look good. Some ones name in a shitty font on your neck does not. I don't care if it's your firstborn kids name.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

>> That being said, it doesn't discount the fact that they might *also* be a jerk though.

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Dunno, a lot of tribal leaders think you don’t need tattoos/moko to have the identity...

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have both sleeves done, chest, and back too but all can be covered for work. My boss had no idea until he saw me on off day but loved them

7 years ago | Likes 1861 Dislikes 15

Same, its great and lovely.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife has a sleeve down one arm that goes over to her shoulder /upper chest , some work on the other, ankles and back. Nurse for 30 years.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Both sleeves here too. Boss knew I had tattoos after a year of work.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have both sleeves and I work in IT, since all my tattoos are animals and appropriate I can go to work in short sleeves, no one bats an eye

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yeah most people don't care. I know my bosses wouldn't, but their bosses would so no sleeves for me

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same here. I work in food (catering/weddings) and I can still cover mine up even in tx heat. I call em forever no jobbers (face/neck/hands).

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Same we had a company party at a water park and come to find most of my coworkers have full sleeves And no 1I work with thought I had any

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same covered on all the places i can cover plus these are mine for me i don't care if people see them.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Accurate username

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Still seems less about expression a more about attention. Would you be happy with showing your ink in an office enviro if allowed to?

7 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 4

Im happy displaying them wherever as long as its not a distraction or affecting my paycheck.

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

And there it is. Tattoos are not shameful. No more than at one the wall or the clothing we choose to wear. Depends on the person I suppose.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Concur

One of my employees has his legs completely done, left arm, back and chest. After one year I I noticed, just because he lifted a pant leg

My English teacher has two full sleeves she covers with cardigans and sweaters throughout the school year.

7 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

What kind of work do you do that let's you where clothes?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Life goals. When I started getting tattoos this was my goal.

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Same nobody knows or needs to know I have tattoos. I feel like it's the best part.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same here. Lawyer, 6 years in the same company ... both sleeves and legs and no one knows.

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Ah yes, the Yakuza way

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have my entire back filled. I like having them for myself, to share when I feel like it. Often, I forget they're there to be seen.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

+1 for correct use of they're and there... Back to back ;)

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Cheers!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

bruh pls, show, we wanna see.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There's a question I want to ask to people with big tattoos: don't you get tired of them? I want a little tattoo but since I change my 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've never gotten tired of mine after many years, but I have sleepily tried to wash them off in the shower a few times.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

mind all the time I don't want any permanent ink on my body. Plus I know you have to retouch the tattoos because they became blurry 2/2

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It’s rare in modern times to have to have a well-done tattoo redone because of blurring.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A good artist, good after-care and loads of sunscreen - my tattoos are still crisp and bright. Sun is the enemy to tattoos.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dito, have arms, legs and ass, but nothing seen in an office environment. I like having that to myself.

7 years ago | Likes 219 Dislikes 1

You know I thought the ass tattoo would be more common given the inherent privacy of it... I guess butt buddies unite!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well the ass must be for someone unless you have a pic of your ass just to look at

out of curiosity, what do you have tattooed on your ass and why there??

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I hope it's Bender's head with a cigar. Just like Fry

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Haha, I actually have that Bender on my shoulder...

The secret to time travel.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've got an ass tattoo, it says "your name". Steve-o had it and its only funny for the first couple of days

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But I still value mine, like a memory from my youth.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i remember that lol. did yours ever get infected or anything? or do you just forget it’s there?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I forget about it all the time, I only remember when anyone mentions tattoos

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same here, the joke preceeds Steve-o by decades though. Got a big heart, with a decorative banner and stuff.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What does one get tatted on their ass..?

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Pizza.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a 16yo, I thought that the heart with ”your name” would be funny for the rest of my life. Turns out it really was.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same.

7 years ago | Likes 723 Dislikes 6

I got one sleeve done, started on leg and other shoulder. Plan is to get full body, but not on hands and up from neck so i can cover all.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have one big tattoo on my left chest, both nips peirced and my wife has two leg "sleeves" and her back is done.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

We work for the government and you'd never know...

Mine are all on my forearms, was 18-19 at the time. Interviewed many times with those showing and eyebrow ring in. Never any issue but

I agree, I have no tattoos but I work in the business world, things have changed but there's still people who will never hire someone with(1

7 years ago | Likes 305 Dislikes 6

Google hires people with tattoos, but they have to be talented. I'm guessing "intelligent with face tattoos" isn't a common demographic

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I work in a semi casual business place and am allowed to show my half sleeves. On certain days my boss says the CEOs are here so she and I

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

both roll our sleeves back down. no big deal. My tattoos stop a bit above my wrist, easily covered with regular clothes.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tattoos exposed just lead to questions, questions are bad for business. Simple as that.

7 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 1

As the hiring manager, if you have a face tattoo I seriously question your judgment.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It is all about how it comes off to customers & clients. Some management might not personally care. But their potential customers do.

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

obvious tattoos. Maybe someday but it's really setting a person up for an inability to be employable at many places.(2

7 years ago | Likes 163 Dislikes 3

Exactly how would you feel if your doctor had a face tatoo?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As long as the business leaders who make real money don't have tattoos, it's best not to if you want to be like them

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

True. I'd like to be more visibly decorated but I work in a white-collar office, it all has to be easily covered.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Its not even the employer being judgmental of the tattoo its the fact that they went out of there way to become less employable

7 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 7

They're less employable because of employer prejudice not because their tattoos indicatw in any way their capability to perform the job.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 19

I'd say that people who get those kind of tats are basically telling the world they don't want to work, not because of prejudice.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Agree

7 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 1

Can i ask you something? I've got a business degree, so do you think a facial tattoo that says "SMASH THE STATE" would dim my job prospects?

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

There are different kinds of tattoos. This example is one of those extreme cases.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you are applying for an anarchist, family owned grocer I’d say your chances are great!

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Any job that involves dealing with the public or clients it is pretty much a no go. Doesn't matter how progressive the employer is.

7 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

But.. starbucks is a yes go. And they've serve the public. Or do you mean like government..? Or police? Idk what you mean by public.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Definitely this. A lot of employers might be ok with tattoos showing but they have to think of the clients/customers.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

My manager has both full sleeves & regularly deals with customers (in retail). Our uniform is short sleeve, so he can't cover them up.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Retail is different from negatiating business deals working for a fortune 500 company

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah, there are exceptions. Mostly jobs that are hard to fill with qualified applicants. Nurses around here often tend to have tattoos.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sure, but the post I was replying to was specifically talking about the business world.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you should meet my cousin. has a "fuck you" on his neck (amongst others) and "misanthrope" tattooed on his cheek. hands are all covered too.

7 years ago | Likes 1278 Dislikes 0

Seriously?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

He’s probably held in very high regard among the prison community

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you dont need tats to say to people you're a misanthrope, for example me, tats-free and i fucking hate every human on earth except my bf

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Had a guy apply at our store. We hire tattooed folks, but this guy had face tats. Just a star on his temple and writing across his nose 1/?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The bridge of his nose, he put in the app and the manager waited for him to leave before paper shredding it. Policy says no face, hand, 2/?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or neck tattoos. We don't mess around because we have a lot of older customers and they won't deal with that

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

if he *and* his tattooist can both spell "misanthrope", then, um, actually, and this is OOC for me, er...I might hire him...

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

If he is a misanthrope, I appreciate the psa

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds like a winner.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

sorry, it's "fuck off" on his neck. "fuck you" would be too rude, wouldn't it?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Is that Queeblo!?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like he would be perfect for telemarketing

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I had an employee with "fuck" on her middle finger and I made her wear a bandaid lol

7 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 1

Good for you. Real question: What was going through her mind during that decision making process?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Drugs, probably lol she isn't the brightest girl

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's sad. She might have been, at one point.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Possibly :(

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Uncle has "bastard" on his chest, "fuck you" on both hands, and tears tattooed to his face. Scares my little cousins and myself tbh

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

And what does he do for a living? Probably doesn't involve people.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So... either he killed a guy or needs to really stay away from certain cities

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Good for him for wearing a three syllable word

7 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

Let me just google "misanthrope"... Great! Perfect for the head of HR position!

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

knew a girl that had a globie (meth pipe) tattooed on her neck. nothing makes you more employable than straight up saying "I smoke meth."

7 years ago | Likes 265 Dislikes 1

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Step 1. Hire meth girl. Step 2. Steal from the company. Step 3. Assign blame and watch the fireworks.

7 years ago | Likes 131 Dislikes 0

The trick is to steal stuff that won't be missed quickly, and then when she fails to show up for work one day, "discover" everything's gone.

7 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 0

Thanks Satan.

7 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

You’re welcome!

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

nothing helps ones job prospects like a neck tattoo. The meth pipe motif is just a special touch to show employers you mean business.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have to STRONGLY disagree with all of you guys. I'm SVP of Human Resources for one of the biggest law firms in Europe and I can assure

7 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 4

you we had hired (and, most importantly, will continue to hire) people with tattoos all over. From our experience they are the more

7 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 3

willing individuals and perfectly execute the tasks assigned to them. From jumping in front of a truck to threatening a judge or even

7 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

say "my client is innocent because @cangarejos is making all this shit up ".

I have to go look that up, I'm old. Well now that's the perfect tatoo! Old folks won't understand, so maybe they would hire his tacky ass!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know, right?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Jesus are you alright? You seem a little off

yeah, that would probably be the only guy who would hire him, if he ever loses his current job, during which he got most of the tats.

7 years ago | Likes 105 Dislikes 0

Jesus in San Diego? Has a landscaping business?

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Truly a miracle. The Jesus I know also owns a landscaping business. The spooky part is it’s in New York.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

heard he does superb work only he never casts the first stone when setting the walk way. Otherwise Great guy.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

haha

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I gotta ask.. what's his gainful employment? I'm blue collar so I cover mine.

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

blue collar too. got a nice gig at a rather large german car manufacturer. didn't have all those tats when he started though.

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

did it take a lot of extra ink? For the blue collar

7 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

You should see his blue waffle

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

i only ask because somebody mentioned "redneck" so i'm planning that for my first ink

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Not too much because my long hair helps to cover my redneck.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

does he have "FUCK OFF" on the fingers? Thats where i'm planning to start then see how it goes

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

nah. fingers aren't done, i think.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you have to cut a finger off or get an exclamation mark

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Or a middle finger emoji

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And have "fuck" tattooed on the emoji's finger as well.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oooh, classy, I hadn't thought of that! Now how do I glue this finger back on?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You could just tattoo your finger on your palm..
