Geroge RR Martin on Conan

Mission fuckin accomplished, sir.

13 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

My hero is Joffery

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah.. but /every/ hero?

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ok Martin you get my respect now, you are an inovative badass... but let's not kill Daenerys... please...

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

WHERE'S MY NEXT BOOK, GEORGE?!

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

"Death is certain. The time is not." ~Jaqen H'Ghar

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Fucking love him. Really hope Arya runs into him before he finishes whatever he's doing in the Citadel.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He looks like a sea captain from a kids' movie.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Its what makes Game of Thrones so readable/watchable. The magic of it is in the mortality of every character.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He reminds me of Hades from Clash of the Titans...becoming powerful in our sadness and depression

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

So fucking true. The good guys do not always win. Novels are written with "Ultimate danger, ultimate escape!" mentality. Break the mold!

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

love "now you know why your nerdfriends were depressed 13 years ago"

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"The protagonist was going to do something inspiring, but he died from smallpox. The End."

13 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Man, this George R.R. Martin version of "Oregon Trail" fuckin' sucks.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

LMAO.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

* you've achieved that you asshole*

13 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 9

Don't like it? Don't buy it, don't watch it. Nobody's making you do it.

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

That's what Conan said in the segment. You know what they say about making assumptions...

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

he was just putting the last picture right and added what conan really said.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

his books are so easy to get engulfed in because it is so realistic. When i read ASOIAF I feel like it's historically accurate

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

People should read more...

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think its always good to simply read a book and think for all i know the main character might not survive.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

GEROGE!

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Translation...my books don't have heroes

13 years ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 3

Brienne, Jon Snow, Daenerys, Sandor Clegane...

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just death.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Brienne.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

*Spoiler* *Spoiler* She ends up killing a few stark men while escorting you know who, so shes not really a hero *Spoiler* *Spoiler*

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't you dare say anything about fair, faultless, beautiful, hot Brienne. Them's fightin' werds.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Sure it has hero's. They just aren't invincible and CAN lose. George is sick of formulaic black and white story telling.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

agreed, usually a hero saves the day which is why he/she is the hero at the end. he just keeps you guessing on who's gonna make it out

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

George R. R. Martin: "Now you know why all your nerdy friends was depressed 13 years ago".

13 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

His final twist will be having a heart attack before finishing the last book.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

That is honestly my biggest fear in life at the moment!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel like GRRM jokes about killing off people for fun, but what he really does is make unpredictable and realistic fiction. It's one of

13 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

the only series where the bad guys stay on top and bad things happen to good people. And I feel for him because he creates these characters

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

and builds their lives and then there comes a point where he knows he's going to have to kill them in order for the plot to go a certain way

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

and I think he jokes about it because I imagine it really hurts him to do that. But he does what needs to be done for the story.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You are spot on about this. I saw an interview he did at Google where he said the Red Wedding was the last chapter he wrote in...(1/2)

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Storm of Swords because it was so hard for him to write. He knew it had to be done for the story, but it was so emotional he had to skip it

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Instead, I assume anyone can die any given moment.

13 years ago | Likes 589 Dislikes 2

Your not wrong

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just like real life!

13 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Except Arya. I think Martin promised his wife he wouldn't kill her.

13 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

That's what he wants you to think!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yet

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

same here, but it sort of takes away any attachment you have on his characters

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah..That.s my feeling as well. I have to start hatting characters so that they may survive.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even GRRM

13 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

You go knock on some wood dammit! Right now!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't joke about that!

13 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

can you imagine? if he dies and never finishes the serie?

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Calm down there, Satan. He just told the producer(s) of Game of Thrones and his agent how everything ends.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Really? I didn't know. Thanks

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wish I could upvote this comment 10000x.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

pretty much marla singer's philosophy, save the part where she's upset that it did not happen yet

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But Conan is about fear for death or sociopolitical intrigue it's about a 9ft tall barbarian that kicks ass and fucks bitches.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

I think OP meant...ON CONAN...the show...or I'm stupid and I'm missing stuff..anyways I just upvoted you for the fuck of it...Remember me.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I think I'm quitting imgur and going to 4Chan. People here can't take a joke.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I like this comment, Shame to the downvoters.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yep.. my favourite character died in the first book. Oh well! I still read them all.

13 years ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 0

Though fair play for sticking it out. I know people who quit at the end of the first series for that same reason. They be missin' out.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's such a butthurt reaction.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But Tyrion is still alive ... I don't understand this post ...

13 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

I don't like the Starks; they have too much integrity. This is a huge liability when it comes to the internecine politics of Westeros.

13 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

ahhh yes, syrio forel

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

HE'S NOT DEAD. He's a faceless man, and was known later in the books as Jaqen H'ghar. You can't unconvince me of it.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

JAQEN KNEW WHAT A DANCING MASTER WAS, I AM CONVINCED OF THIS AS WELL.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like the way you think

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

God damn it, Ned.

13 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

...truth...

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yea, Flanders...

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

All my favorite characters have survived, but have become far less interesting to the point where I kinda wish they'd die.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm sure George will take care of that for you soon.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I sometimes feel that way about my neighbors.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

So you've been introduced to all the other effing awesome characters in GoT and THAT'S still your favourite character?

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Well, at the time, Khal Drogo was my favourite character. Now I like a bunch of them.. most are still alive too! Sweeeet.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck yeah, +1 for the Khal being your fave. He doesn't get enough love.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

To be fair, he IS kinda the only character whose motives we never wind up questioning...

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly, and that's why his death is so perfect. The one time he swallows his honor it's to save the life of his daughter Sansa.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He watches fans reactions to the 'Red Wedding' http://teamcoco.com/video/conan-highlight-red-wedding-reactions

13 years ago | Likes 480 Dislikes 4

When was he on Conan? Last night?

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is perfect. I love this guy.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

havent read or watched got and i MIGHT read it now, might

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

man fuck the red wedding. ruined my weekend

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This makes me want to watch the show. Wish I had HBO.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

he goes, 'heh heh heh' and is actually saying 'dis gon be gooood'

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can tell the people who read the book, and the people who haven't.

13 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 2

you can see them staring at the screen like, yep what were you guys expecting?

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think it's really nice that these book readers didn't spoil it for their friends, and then filmed them crying hysterically for fun :)

13 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

If you watch, you can see the book readers disappointment in how much they got wrong in the scene. I almost broke my computer in rage.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Now you know why your friend was upset 13 years ago" xD

13 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

That man is evil.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

*nerdy friend (BE PROUD!)

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

My reaction to her finding the chain mail under his shirt was "FUCKING NO. WHAT THE FUCK." Then my reaction was crying and vomiting.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Bolton was such an ass too, laying it on the table for her and signaling her to peek at it after the "rains of castamere" were playing 1/3

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

he saw her fears on her face when that song started up, and he went ahead and confirmed it for her just like that... cruel cruel asshole

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Those reactions were awesome +1 to you good sir for this posting these :D

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The "NOOOO WAYYYY" guy made that video epic.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

the problem i have isn't the deaths. it's that the trap was obvious.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Thats all part of the point; good men die stupid deaths because they think every1 is good,Tyrion would never have gone there,Ned would have

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I understand what you mean but this will help explain it. They did a better job going over it in the book (1/2)

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

they indeed bollocks that up completely in the show.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are just some things that i think need to be explained in the show, this is one of them.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I disagree. Yes Robb should have suspected more then just a chiding for breaking his oath... to predict being slaughtered? By his bannerman?

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

With his army outside? and under the rules of hospitality? Maybe it was obvious to a reader, but character wise... Robb was never paranoid.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Didn't read the books, don't watch the show.. but imgur is really rousing my curiosity. I only have time for one. GOT or Doctor Who?

13 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 4

Read the GOT books, watch Dr. Who as a show. The books beat the show for GOT, you don't get that opportunity with Dr. Who.

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

If you can deal w/ depression GOT, otherwise Doctor who

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Game of Thrones, in my opinion. You'll really want to get caught up with the rest of us at least before season 4 starts next year

13 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 2

13 years ago (deleted Feb 21, 2014 9:48 AM) | Likes 0 Dislikes 0

LOL! If I did that though, I'd have to give up imgur. That would be sacrilegious.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

GOT would be finished faster. You would need someone to catch you up on the Doctor Who franchise in addition to the new seasons.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

DW is corny as shit. It's just not very interesting in my opinion. BRING ON THE DOWNVOTES!

13 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 11

GoT has boobs and sword fighting in just about every episode. Thats pretty hard to beat if you ask me

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

GoT is LEAGUES beyond Doctor Who, and I love Doctor Who.

13 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 6

a Song of Ice and Fire

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It depends on what you like. Both are awesome. If you like sci fi better than fantasy: DW. If you prefer realistic fantasy, go for GoT.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Game of Thrones, if you are stressed for time.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a person who loves both, GoT hands down. It's the best and worst thing that's ever happened to me. I hope you enjoy it!!

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

por que no los dos?

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

GoT all the way. It's really consistent while Doctor Who can be a little hit and miss from time to time.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

GoT. Imgur seduced me into watching both, but Dr. Who takes up SOOO much more time, and GoT is better, in my opinion

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Don't you be piling no Sophie's Choice on me. You find time to watch them both. D:

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pfft. There's over a year before the new season of DW starts (not including November and December specials). Plenty of time to do both ;)

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Aren't there like 57 seasons of Dr. Who though?

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Only 798 episodes so far... *grins*

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's a bit like choosing a favourite child.

13 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

watch Game of thrones first and when you are done with it watch doctor who so you can cheer up ... seriously

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Watch Doctor Who, READ A Song of Ice and Fire (the GOT books). Problem solved.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love both so much! But I'd do Game of Thrones, and then when you get done move on to DW, because that one has a long hiatus.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

watch Doctor who, read GOT: the books are so much better

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I prefer Doctor Who, myself. Imgur badgers me to watch it and I've tried but I don't see the appeal.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

GAME OOF THRONES!

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

GOT

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I couldn't make it past 1 episode of Dr. Who, but I've read all of the GoT books and watch the show. If my random opinion matters!

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I always tell my friends to get three episodes into Doctor Who before they judge. Its not what you expect, but is so wonderful.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Game of Thrones, hands down. I think it has a much more interesting storyline.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You have time for both! Get the audiotape of the books, listen to them on the commute to work. Watch Doctor Who in spare time. :)

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Both. Its not like they're going anywhere.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

GOT

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Neither. Read A Song of Fire and Ice.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am jealous that you get to watch it for the first time.... ahhh if I could go back and do it all again, the time wasted, I WOULD!

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

DW if you like sci fi/epic adventure, GOT for fantasy/mystery adventure. GOT is sadder and darker, DW is more abstract and can be confusing

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Also GOT is shorter if you're just watching the show. DW has way more seasons

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Song Of Ice and Fire!!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

who sucks! all about GOT its unmissable

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

watch dr who now, because by the time you finish dr who, got will be finished and you'll be able to watch it in one sitting.

13 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

their will be at least five more seasons of GOT. I don't think he'll need five years to watch 80 episodes of doctor who haha

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

there are a lot more than 80 episodes of dr who

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't think he was talking about the old series, too.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

LOL, one sitting!

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

GOT

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dot watch the show, read the books! GOT!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why not both?

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Idk if I could honestly.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like what he does. It's hard to deal with, I know, but it's realistic. The hero doesn't always win.

13 years ago | Likes 1894 Dislikes 6

I don't read fantasy novels for realism. Then again i'm not stupid..

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

His heros never fucking win

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I feel kinda bad when as an aspiring writer i say i want my stuff to reflect that sometimes life just shits on you and the hero noisily dies

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sometimes ... the hero dies in the end.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't need my media realistic. I live in reality, it sucks and everything dies. I don't want to be there. That's why I'm reading books.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn right. He puts tension in his stories and hell sometimes doing the right thing screws you over. Realistic and entertaining.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I cried tears of pain and holy shit this is real life all at once. Love to hate it, lol.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I agree. I'm hardly thrilled by movies anymore because everything always ends well. It's not only unrealistic but boring, too.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly why I think the show is so popular. It's like a dose of larger-than-life fantastical reality, as opposed to complete fantasy.

13 years ago | Likes 85 Dislikes 3

Fantastical reality?

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Yep. Like prom in movies, or sitcoms (the old ones). It could ALMOST be true.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gotta agree with the prom analogy.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's good in a morally ambiguous way like the Wire.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What I've learned in Game of Thrones: There are no bad guys or good guys, only humans.

13 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I don't see how realistic is necessarily good. If you really want realistic, I can write a book about how I sit at a computer all day...

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Thank you! Finally someone with common sense.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sean Bean ......thats all im saying

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

actually i think, you can't really call them heroes. they are just characters with different motivations and stories, and thats whats great

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know. I love it too. And yet, if anything happens to Tyrion or Arya, I will riot.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sometimes heroes fall despite there strength.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, this is why I found The Avengers boring as fuck; you know none of them will die so the fights have no tension at all.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I agree. And even other books like Harry potter didnt have any significant deaths until the last 2 where it didn't matter anymore

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Realistic is fine. I just think you can do realism without being downright depressing.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The hero may not always win, BUT THEY DONT ALWAYS DIE HORRIBLE, POINTLESS DEATHS!!

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Not pointless at all. Major contributor to the advancement of the plot.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pointless, is that what you think? Hmm. You think that is air that you are breathing?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The hero rarely wins* I fixed it for you babe.:)

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Statistically I'd bet most heroes die.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and the story as it stands couldn't be as awesome as it is without the plot points the deaths create. 'cause what? Rob wins? Then what?

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Even then, If the death of Ned had never happened, as a main/the primary character, the story would have advanced to dullness.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

exactly

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He did win... Everything! That's the genius of it. Problem is he did what his stupid mum told him to do

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is NOT reallistic. The hero shouldn't always win, but he shouldn't always lose either

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Ned &Rob both died because they expected people to keep their word & b as noble as them, they wouldnt have lasted 5 minutes as medieval lords

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's why I am always the villain...

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your username... do you play hockey?

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But Lannisters always wins...

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not always...

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

word. Wassa matter Joff-Joff? Sore throat?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

who really is the hero in this story? based on the tv series, everyone is flawed and has at least one awful character trait.

MAJOR END OF BOOKS SPOILER

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Rhaegar is the hero, but he was killed and the story takes place in a world where the hero was slain.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shakespeare did the same thing. And got through it all a lot faster.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

The starks, but more specifically jon snow.... He is the outcast for being a bastard, so he would be the "unlikely hero" 1/?

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's very much like Eddard, but we need to take into account that he also had his time for being a hero which was when he overthrew the 2/3

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Targaryens with robert. In my mind ned was a hero in the game of thrones as well, but he just wasn't suited for playing this "game of thrones

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, my vote goes for Jon. He's the most "modern" character, with no real flaws.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think the Starks are the hero type, In the show moreso than the books. They have the hero quality more-so than the other houses imo.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Everyone knows the Starks are noble and traditional. Doesn't necessarily make them heroes, but they're not bad guys either.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In the books the Starks are portrayed mostly as hardheaded, traditional and totally inflexible to change. Not sure how heroic that is.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I'd say they fit the archtype more than the other houses, Even if it's not a great fit.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

inflexible, sure - seems probable (i didnt read). But Ned struck me as a man of honor, Robb is lost (therefore gullible), (1/2)

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

arya seems badass, Sansa was never raised, and catelyn is probably the most cripplingly conservative (more so than Ned). (2/2)

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

there are a number of heroes. there are arguably no protagonists though

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its like a story that takes place in a world where Ganon killed Link

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They have that, it's called the Downfall Timeline, and starts with Windwaker

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i actually heard about that

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Everyone is flawed and has at least one awful character trait" Yep, sounds like real life.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Real life, just what I'm hoping to experience when I read fantasy books.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

speak for yourself, literature is an expression of human nature - devoid of it, it is pointless. like the literature of barteldan (d. adams)

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was speaking for myself. IMO (still speaking for myself) there are more facets to human nature than what Martin writes about.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tyrion is a freaking saint in the TV series. In the books he is a more gray and well written character.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The hero is Aegon Targaryen. You don't meet him until the fifth book.

Aegon has no strong motive besides what has been put upon him, and with no POVs and little 'screen time' I doubt he will be a major player.

There is no way the hero is introduced until the 5th book of a series. He's a mummer's dragon.

Oh, but the irony in him.

What do you mean?

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Almost like real people. No one in life is 100% good or evil.

"Only the Sith deal in extremes"

"Only a Sith deals in absolutes" which in itself is an absolute.

I'm pretty sure Daenerys is in the lead so far. She fucks shit up and frees slaves left and right.

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

And she does it based on lies and being deceived, so that's great

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

her new commander is gonna totally catch up with her, i can see that happening already

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

She has also become very cocky, which leads me to believe things might not work out so well for her.

13 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I hadn't thought of the cocky trait before. I've been blinded by dragons. Pretty sure you just ruined my whole day.

in the lead? (spoiler) she makes a deal to trade a dragon for slave soldiers and then says, "actually, i am going to kill you." not noble.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know it's an unpopular opinion but I've never really liked Daenerys. I feel like without the dragons she wouldn't really have appeal.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are a lot of well-loved characters I cannot stand. Popular opinion or not, you're still entitled to one.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks! I have my favorite characters but I totally understand why others wouldn't agree w/ them. It'd be boring if everyone liked the same.

I think Martin set up Ned as a very quintessential hero so that by killing him, he could prove that plot armor does not exist in Westros.

I would agree on intent of the character but even he was vastly imperfect. Dense, without foresight, cheated on his wife to boot.

Read the first book at least. If you have, then google R+L=J, not so much spoilers as, "How did I miss all that the first time around?"

Shhhh! We are talking to show folk! ^_^

Thanks =) I've heard of this bit, but feigned ignorance for the sake of the show timeline.

So heres what I think would be cool:Jaime Lannister, is controversial, but is an honorable man. What if after finding out about the Red (1)

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wedding, he becomes furious that WF betrayed [Red Wedding Guy]. So, Jaime destroys WF to avenge [Red Wedding Guy]. Interesting no?

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most Lannisters are honorable in their own way. Jaime is self-absorbed & slowly changes (so far), Tywin was always ruthless but not evil (1)

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tyrion is prob the most noble of them all. But Cersei and Joffrey are just downright c*nts/evil. (Tommen and Myrcella are cool) (2)

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jaime's...not really all that honorable. Brienne's rescue notwithstanding, Jaime is concerned about Jaime.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No, like he is selfish, but believes in honor. [Guy's} death would likely piss him off

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He believes in honor, sure. He doesn't have a lot of it. Besides, [Guy] was trying to murder his family.
