It's not about being kind. It's about control.

Perhaps they would also like to bring back the Bellamy salute as well https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bellamy_salute

But how will we foster a sense of subservience to a higher power so that we can manipulate them to vote against their interests utilizing deep-seated racial hatred and bigotry?

And you want to just feed kids? SOSHALISM.

Big ol /S

So many people shouting about mind control. How many times would saying the pledge over and over make you a forcible good patriot? If the 10 commandments is in your vicinity, does somehow it radiate into your brain? Kids are younger but they're not THAT malleable. Saying words and never discussing their meaning isn't going to make them obedient patriots more than knowing Blackpink song lyrics turns them into South Korea loyalists.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If a poster about something actually changed minds like people are saying here? I would never have to field "what are we doing today" or "where can I get a pencil" or being asked out loud if students can go to the bathroom

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why is there not a first commandment “you should feed the poor”?

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not a commandment but it at least does say a whole bunch of times to feed the poor. They just ignore those parts.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We are the only developing nation that pledges allegiance to our flag. It’s so weird and brain washy.
Fuck this piece of shit country

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Y'all pledge to it and the republic for which it stands but clearly less than half actually meant it. You have a sitting president who has taken several shits on your constitution with no real threat of reprisal of any kind.

"But... but comminizm... FOX sez duh comminists dun wanna take yer munny an feed da kidz wit it so dey becum comminists too..." You know the rationale if you give people free stuff it makes them freeloading godless communists... unless that stuff is jet skis, vacations or iPhones with the attached promise of "A chance to win" the items... then that's gennyin jeezus apruved maricun captillizim!

I wonder just taking care of such basic needs would reduce the number of school shootings? No idea, really but it’s worth a try.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Regressives don’t want our kids to be smarter. They want them to be gullible - in all ways.

10 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I love when the so many people walk out on the same limb, and no one on any board of education has their car explode. I can’t imagine why they would keep shitting all over people.

Instead of free lunch a "christian" would put up this sign:
Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied.

10 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Government officials should have to state the pledge of allegiance every day. Unfortunately, they don't really care for it, and it is little more than lip service.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Some body has to pay for it these "free" lunches Why do I need to when I elected to not have children? Just a thought......

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Food costs money. A paper showing the 10 commandments costs next to nothing. They only care about money and if a group of under privileged, struggling people gets hurt in the process then they are happy.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They don't want educated students. They want to bully and feel superior while not costing them anything.

10 months ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 1

To further clarify- they're not trying to educate kids, they're trying to indoctrinate them. Obedient citizens matter more to them than educated ones.

10 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

They do not even care enough to indoctrinate. One sounds good to their base and the other costs money. That's it.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm baffled there are that many people with kids and apparently can't feed them before school or send them with a lunch. If you can't afford to do the basic thing of feeding your child (what happens in summer breaks?) you should not have children. School should not be your babysitter that feeds and raises your kids without funding from... The parents. Not everyone else including people who don't have kids because they can't afford it. So they gotta pay higher taxes with no child tax credits.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@OP Let's be honest about those commandments first? Originally, there were 613 of those stupid things. Some of them were so preposterous and clearly not divine, so they were culled and only 10 survived the cut that people would actually follow. It's directly a situation where super control was intended, then they said, "What about just these 10?" Who does that remind you of? MAGA's!

I like Santa. At least believing in him got me something. Jesus bs only ever got me believing priests were good guys, lol. #notadragqueen

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yes, but that isn't the intention.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But a poster is much cheaper

10 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

They are donated by churches.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Few things are more expensive than living in an uneducated society.

10 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I have told my son he doesn't have to do the pledge of allegiance, but sadly, he only does it because he doesn't want to bring attention to himself.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But then you are rewarding bad parents who are just bumming off the system and not taking care of their own kids!!1! Also, parents are the best and only people who should be in charge of their kid's education!!! /S

Wife is an Arkansas teacher. Her in god we trust poster has been behind a cabinet shelf the whole time. She's running out of furniture to stash the christofascist propaganda with.

The FBI fought against breakfast for children because it was an initiative first brought forth by the Black Panthers. Since the FBI was led by J. Edgar Hoover at the time, one of America's greatest monsters, that was of course unacceptable.

10 months ago | Likes 161 Dislikes 4

One of America's greatest monsters until now.

Trump has NOTHING on Jackson or Wilson. I'd argue he's not even quite in the top 5 worst POTUS. Top 10 for sure.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's just foolishly self serving. Not actively evil.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same thing with firearms, when Reagan and the NRA didn't like the black panthers having guns.

10 months ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

LMFTFY: The NRA didn't like black people having guns. - Also, they still don't, racist small dicked pricks every last one of them.

10 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

I don't know how I didn't already imply that with my message.

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

On a quick read of your comment, it wasn't clear to me that Reagan was pro-NRA when the Black Panthers had guns. It almost sounded like he was anti-firearms. Probably just because I scanned it quick in the context of the OP ("they were against because of ")

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

putting the 10 commandments in classrooms and saying the pledge has nothing to do with educating children and honestly its weird that anyone believes that it does.

10 months ago | Likes 123 Dislikes 2

The 10 commandments and pledge are for indoctrination, not education.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sure it does, if you purposely conflate education with indoctrination...

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Of course it does and it's not weird to believe the truth. It shows the legislative objectives , education vs indoctrination and they choose to prioritize indoctrination. Pretty simple analogy. They could do both, but fed children learn better and then they begin to think for themselves and maybe God and country wouldn't come first. Maybe compassion, empathy and equality would win out. No sense it taking a chance.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is “educating” them in an Orwellian way.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, math I use every day. I've never had to know the pledge of allegiance in my every day life

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's brainwashing

10 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

So... education then?
Not quite an /S comment. All education is plotted out by the ruling classes, be they private institutions or public, there is an agenda, a brand of Brainwash, in every decision of what to teach in the official curriculum.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

I dont think the people enforcing it think it actually helps educate children, but it furthers their narrative of control and "america/jesus good, everything else bad." Good little boys and girls who say their prayers and pledge turn into good little adults who do not question authoritarian policies because if it is done in the name of america or jesus it cant be bad

10 months ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I think youre giving them to much credit. The majority of people who support this absolutely think it helps. I even have seen posts and heard people talking about how the reason there is school shootings is because we don't have Jesus in schools.

The ones in powers do it to pander to the idiots.

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I need you to understand that only the most mouth breathing of mouth breathers thinks this. No one in actual charge of anything. This is the equivalent of the deep state that the Republicans believe is trying to destroy them when it's just remembering a clip said 7 months ago.

Jesus plays well to the base. Base being happy gets votes. Votes get power. Lunches cost money, spending money there keeps you from paying back the big forces in power. Sometimes you're lucky and you create a distraction.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Spot-on!

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a teacher, I can confirm that most have no idea what most of it really means. It's just something they have to parrot every day. I'm surprised admin never found out I didn't do the the pledge with the kids or even have a flag in my room for a whole year.

10 months ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 0

BECAUSE ITS THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don’t make mine say the pledge but it comes over the intercom. I told them the story of the enterprising flag salesmen in the 50s and allow them to opt out of the pledge if they do it respectfully. That way I teach them how to resist in a respectful, positive way.

10 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

-resistance- +1!

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The kids!??

10 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

10 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

The "kids" part

10 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

The one where kids go hungry?

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately, it's just the kids themselves that seems to to that to those freaks.

10 months ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 0

Which they already get in the presence of children. So it’s redundant to have to 10 commandments. Especially when it’s “mandatory little girls’ genitals inspection day” to make sure everyone playing middle school girls’ badminton meets their unscientific definition of “a girl.”

10 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Well, that and all of the kids shot to death, cowering in fear in their classrooms.

10 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

And they want them to say a pledge to a government and a god that allows it to happen.

10 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Kids in generally, in fact.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah, the genital checks in the bathrooms.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's all business, why hurt the gun industry when you can create a new industry of kids sized Kevlar vests and backpacks. Capitalism at its finest.

10 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Don't forget more kid sized coffins.

10 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Who are we kidding? We all know they can’t get erections. That’s why they’re doing this!

Ive got family that's a principal at a lower income elementary school. There is a huge issue with the kids socially accepting the food. It has gotten so bad from bullying that they sit all the kids facing away from eachother so they can eat without being made fun of for eating the "poor" food. CA school

10 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Du they do a before school breakfast club? Really common here (Oz), let's you check in with the kids who need to rely on school for food (it's more likely to be neglect than poverty here)

For a government official to oppose school lunches is an act of treason against this country.

10 months ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

You can't expect a magat to learn from history. If they could, they wouldn't be a magat.

10 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

if you dig up the origins of the FDA... you're in for a shock. they used to be poisons used in food to hide the rot and make them look nicer... embalming fluid, chalk, a copper coumpound that's litteraly poisonous... and they wondered why kids where dropping left and right... even adult humans. its also why usa food is banned in europe (for hundreds of years) and how the whole 'bacterias are all bad' scam started: payback to stop european food to get in the market.

10 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

And today the US produces "chlorine washed chicken" which is banned in UK and Europe. And most American beef doesn't make the grade either because American farmers routinely use hormones and antibiotics that aren't allowed there either.

10 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

in europe the solution to livestocks being unhealty and carrying desease was to try to stop mass production farms and go with more open fields and better living conditions... the usa... feed them antibiotics, creating super resistant deseases.. and needing to chlorine wash... >_< but also eggs: they are all white in the us cause they get washed, thus damaging the shell and making it porous to bacterias, needing cold storage and transport... adding to the cost.

10 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Porous to bacteria, which is why most of the rest of the world looks in confusion at Americans being so weird about raw eggs.
