(Mildly) Angry Succulent Tutorial

Get your supplies.
-Pot with some drainage
(**MUST HAVE DRAINAGE**) it is infinitely harder to ensure your succulents are getting enough dry time in between waterings if there is no drainage. If you give them too much water, there is no forgiveness and it gives no shits.
-1/2 Succulent potting soil
-1/2 normal potting soil (I mix them together because I think the succulent mix is too dusty)
-A watering pot (I use an old detergent container)
-All your old succulents
-A stick. A skinny, straight stick is preferred.
-trash container (this makes clean up way faster)

Start by ripping out the plants from their containers and discarding the old soil. This is the great thing about succulents. You basically just can clean them up once a year to make them fresh looking again.

Cut the stems of really leggy ones like this so that there’s a few inches below the leaves to make the new roots. Leave the non-leggy ones alone except for removing the old dirt.

This is the result of cleaning up the previous plant. Cut off the stem and removed a few of the shriveled leaves. The little plants from the previous picture were left alone except for crumbling away the old soil from their roots.

Do this for all the plants. I like to line them up so that when I plant them it’s easy to arrange them.

Get you soil. Poke it with a stick in case there are any creepy things.

Fill the pot and mix soil with you hands.

Now it’s time to be ArTiStIc. Get yer plant that will be in the middle. Poke the soil and open up a space for the plant.

Plant the plant. Pat the soil. You can change the angle of the plant by patting down the soil in different ways. Use stick if needed. Repeat with all the bigger plants.

Sometimes it’s hard to stick the plant into the soil because the stem is so curvy. Just nestle these types of stems into the top of the soil and cover a bit with some more soil. It’ll do.

Once you’ve put in all of your bigger plants, take your baby plants and just put them kinda on top of the soil. Don’t worry too much about them. These suckers are hard to kill.

Voila! I think it will look nicer once they’ve gotten a bit bigger, but the good thing is that I don’t plant to touch these guys until next spring.

DONT OVERWATER YOUR SUCCULENTS. I don’t know why people do this. Leave the darn thing alone. The key to watering succulents is to make sure the soil dries out completely between waterings. They will rot from the roots up if you do this. Do you want your succulents to die an ugly death? I think not.

If you’re unsure, just jam your finger in the soil to see if it’s damp. Unsure if it’s ready? Wait a few days. Wait more days. It’ll be ok. Plus, when they have heat or water stress, a lot of them start producing anthocyanins that make the leaves red and cool looking.
Happy planting!

TLDR; op planted some plants & also don’t overwater your succulents, ya corn.
