I grow loofas in the back yard. Had my first, modest harvest last fall. Should last a year or two as loofas and scrub pads.

Loofas run so fast you have to wack them hard on the noggin to stop them.

I have seeds, but I was told the seeds only last one season so I guess it’s too late and I should buy new ones.

You heard wrong my friend! This year's harvest was from seeds I had bought two seasons previously, 3-years old.

There also edible! Okinawans have a decent recipe for them. I think i remember peanut butter getting involved. It's been like 11 years since i lived there.

Hah! My wife was picking young ones for food. "That's not ready!" "You have to pick it small or it's too tough to eat." "EAT?!" Filipino thing as well. :)

I'm adding them to my garden for the first time this year.

All the sun you can get and be prepared. Mine grew around 6" a day for a few weeks. Leave the pods on the vine until brown, crispy and papery. Green fruits can be dried, but every one of mine rotted.
