Google Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands. The 101st jumped and used gliders to insert themselves close to Arnhem and Nijmegen. If your G-pa was a glider pilot with the 101st he most likely participated in this.
There are several monuments dedicated to them around that area. There is a movie from the 70âs called âa bridge too farâ. Well worth the watch
