You can really tell when somebody took pride in their work.

New York underground

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

That could be 1982. It could be yesterday, I don't know.

Imagine if you lived in a culture where people went "no, that's okay, we don't need ads here".

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

One can only dream...

The Soviet underground represents both travel and shelter. A reminder of the greatness of Communism; the last view during a nuclear attack.

St. Petersburg too, but I love how Moscow's stations get more and more modern art-y as you move away from the center.

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately, SPb and Moscow underground is polluted with advertisements.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hope it's not filled with murderous clones of yourself!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So Soviet

What's wrong with the existing piss & vomit deco of the much treasured London underground stations?

7 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

I hear stabbing is a big problem in London.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Only because guns are hard to get

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Was Milana Vayntrub born in Uzbekistan?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it was here it would be full of graffiti

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

What I was thinking as well.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That is beautiful!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's so strange how the Soviety Union and their many satellites built ornate, beautiful subway systems but wouldnt just feed their people.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because feeding people is day to day expense. You build a subway once and can use it for decades showing everyone how great the country is.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Info from the field: it is kind of guarded by police very well, it was and still is a strategic in case of disaster. So it stays unvandalized

At one station in Stockholm (Sweden) we have ugly naked men doing different poses :|

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Found my new home when the nukes start dropping

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They deliberately built the metro very deep in Tbilisi to act as a bomb shelter, at least in the central stations.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The US had the city of Tblisi targeted with two multi-megaton bombs.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How did you get these pictures? The Uzbek police are crazy strict about photographing the metro

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I am pretty sure you can arrange the taking pictures of the subway there. Especially if you are doing some article about beauty of //

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Tashkent subway stations or something like that. They charge you some money, assign you an subway official to escort and review the material

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Terrorism. There are police at the entrances and security cameras looking for people taking pictures

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Conversely, in the Russian metro they encourage photography and even have marked "Selfie spots"

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They discourage photography but establish selfie spots there.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I once spent a day going stop to stop, photographing the stations. Sometimes I went back and forth between couple to redo the pictures -

Is Uzbek's population mostly muslim? The decor is very islamic in style.

7 years ago | Likes 423 Dislikes 7

I am tell they are very nosy people with bone in their brain.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, and they're a Turkic people as well.

7 years ago | Likes 153 Dislikes 0

Correct

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Muslim is a belief, Turkish is more accurate description. Heh

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

That is why the poster explained it. You can be Muslim but not Turkic people.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Go to wikipedia, search for Uzbekistan and look at their flag.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

Check out Samarkand, some of the best Islamic architecture around, I think.

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Mughal Architecture. Well, Timurid at the time, but there's a lot of carry-over. Taj Mahal is an example of the same.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The colour scheme is quite distinct from that seen in India, though. Though I'm more familiar with India's Hindu architecture.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You should look up some Mughal stuff. It came to India via the Timurid dynasty - whose capital was Samarkand - and it's quite stunning.

I upvoted it just to spite you.

Because your comment, wondering why the current top comment is the top comment, should be the top comment?

What’s wrong with it?

It's easier to Google the answer than ask imgur and wait for a possible answer

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 27

The other person was clarifying the Uzbekistan is Turkish as many people assume Arabian to be the default for anything Muslim.
