I am tied with Minecraft and the 2002 Ratchet and clank soundtrack

Good music is good music, regardless of what it is made for.

Music is music, if you like it and want to listen to it and feel a connection to it then it's good music and it shouldn't matter where it came from

Portal and yes, I'm going to the Witcher in concert next month. Plus Little Big Planet has some bangers.

[frantically looks up Witcher in concert] Bah, no Canadian dates, boo. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I would totally go...

I was on Witcher 3 ost for YEARS, it's still on my ipod (ipod? What's that??). The past few months it's been Ori and the Blind Forest or Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Crescendo dramatic adventure or melancholy sweet sorrow. I can't play those kind of games but am always eager for a new soundtrack!

Secret of Mana. That opening theme still gets me.
Bastion. Fantastic.
Shadow of the Beast. Absolutely amazing for what they were able to accomplish with the limitations of the time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCwXI9iV7qw&list=PLqf2srRfppHArxtuXOPDaGVUVyUovn6EC Shadow of the Beast. Seriously astonishing what they were able to accomplish. I used to have an article somewhere about how they managed to get the woodwind sounds working, but I seem to have lost it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJ9pQk2jxTc&t=3307s Bastion. Love how they seamlessly blend the themes of the two characters on opposing sides.

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I still think it has one of the best boss battle theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0IJPzf4mO0

So much is crammed into the 2min loop.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ahhh Bastion! "Proper story's supposed to start at the beginning. Ain't so simple with this one." is a line that will stay with me forever.

I loved Donkey Kong Country 2’s soundtrack when I was a kid. Still like it as an adult. Shadow Of The Colossus was pretty epic too. Favorites as an adult prolly Ori and Journey and Honor of Kings (Thomas Parisch cues), I’ve never played these games but enjoy the music:)

The music from Ori and Ark are pretty great. Coincidentally, both composed by Gareth Coker.

6 months ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

my man Gareth can make a soundtrack, my favorite recently is https://play.reelcrafter.com/garethcokercomposerofficial/ark-frontier-adventure-theme

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gotta say, the music in ark is one of the few good things about it these days

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ori and the Blind Forest is just breathtaking piece of music. So eerie and mostly comforting. Really made me fall in love with the game, i went through it several times already <3

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was actually the reason I tried that game to begin with

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also yes, by accident i saw a trailer and the music caught me right there <3

Checking out Will of the Wisps music, i need to find time to play this one soon as well

Anything Koji Kondo or Jeremy Soule. System Shock. Classic Mega Man (Pharaoh Man!). The "The Only Thing They Fear Is You" mix in Starfield.

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Kazumi Totaka did the music for Animal Crossing, all of which is amazing. The Quake soundtrack.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Risk of Rain 2's entire soundtrack

Legend of Dragoon, Chrono Cross and LoZ: Twilight Princess.

6 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Hollow Knight and Silksong, Christopher Larkin is the best.

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hollow Knight is absolutely phenomenal all around, especially the ost

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, definitely GOATed soundtracks.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Skyrim and Oblivion are straight fire.

6 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 3

Skyrim and oblivion are just carrying morrowinds motif

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

For sure. Soule built and expanded on his own work. Similar to John Williams.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Morrowind gets me right in the nostalgia feels everytime

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

All three game's music lives in my soule. Plus he wrote damned near all of my favorite games of the late 90s till... I guess now.

I tend to use the Hardspace: Shipbreaker soundtrack if I want something playing in the background while I'm relaxing.

6 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I love that game but honestly have no recollection of the music

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have a mod for KSP that lets me run custom soundtracks. Low atmosphere and mid orbit soundtracks for Kerbin is the Shipbreaker soundtrack. High atmosphere and near atmosphere orbit soundtracks use the "tension" variants (what you hear when pulling reactors or big boy thrusters).

Then you might also like the Rebel Galaxy soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBAYW0WGKtE&list=PLRMcXkadosW43B18ZSbYFqBnFn2myQwRw

E33 music by Lorien Testard, instant classic : Une vie a t'aimer

6 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

What a revelation that game was. I remember being intriuged by the initial trailer, the music in that was great. They recently released the 30-minute version of all 3 the "Une Vie" tracks combined, it's fantastic. I also love Simon's theme.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Such a great track, probably my favorite.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Indeed, love it <3

The flickering street lights of a burning city at night, heavy rainfall on the streets of covenant occupied New Mambasa. A lone ODST trooper roams through searching for his scattered squad, piano streams in varied along with a steady saxophone to get you through the long night

Listening to the og halo menu track brings back memories of a time long forgotten. It inspires mystery within my soul inviting as it is haunting. Truly a master piece.

"To Far Away Times", from Chrono Trigger.

6 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Chrono Cross didnt have nearly as good a story or mechanics, but hot damn did it have an amazing soundtrack

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That whole game soundtrack is a banger.

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Honestly, every Doom soundtrack is full of bangers

I think it's the best game music. I'll fight all the EDM, chill track loves around.

What's incredible is that any time someone makes a cover of Doom Eternal, it's just never as heavy as the original. Don't get me wrong, they're usually fantastic and worthy of praise, but they're simply not as heavy as the masterpiece Mick Gordon made. (Which is also why I'm still salty about Bethesda fucking him over.)

6 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Mick Gordon is just a musical god......
He's obviously a metal-guy by nature.... but I recommend listening to the Killer Instinct season 1 and 2 soundtracks also....
Really shows Mick's range....... there's no genres Mick can't make heavier than anyone else...

And if you're a little nerdy about "behind the scenes" stuff, there's some REAL gold stories in the making of several of the tracks.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and Doom DarkAges feels heavily "in the style-of" and not close to his original work.

Cosmo Canyon and Fight On!

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes! I listen to it almost every day. For 27 years now.

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I listen to it and like viiis,x and a few others to sleep

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah. You can argue for FF6 or Battle on Big Bridge from FF5 or even bits of 8 or 9... but if in all those cases you have to start with explaining why it ISN'T Final Fantasy 7... then you just have to accept that no, it's FF7.
That said, on a wider squaresoft level... Chrono Trigger is RIGHT. THERE.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This series easily has some of the best video game music out there.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same, and it's not even close

With ffvii I can lol

ffx is mine :D

6 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Okay I know FFVII didn't have a lot of bangers but man I still listen to "Eyes on me" Laguna was so much more relatable than Squall. I wanted more of his story.
