GOD DAMN IT I'M WATCHING THE SERIES FOR THE FIRST TIME AND I'M EXACTLY ONE EPISODE BEHIND THIS SCENE.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

4th wall cos the writers are taking a shot at the trope of skipping over what can only be the most impossibly interesting scene ever?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

WHY ARE THEY SCREAMING?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

+1 for episode sauce.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah, classic!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

This show and The Office are not on Australia's Netflix. Stop reminding me, Imgur.

I just finally watched this episode today, what a coincidence!

Chris was the perfect counter point to Ron. I loved it when they interacted.

I love how Rob Lowe embraces the whole pretty-idiot aspect of his character.

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

Why did I just hear about him possibly having a sex tape with 2 women and one of them being 16 or something?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I for one LITERALLY love it also.....ANNE PERKINS

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

He's not an idiot, he's extremely successful and good at his job.

What exactly does this have to do with the 4th wall? Unless that actually is the name of the cafe.

10 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 5

A proper example of breaking the 4th wall:

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Whenever an actor addresses the audience directly it is considered; "Breaking the 4th wall" Ferris Bueller's Day Off did this with abandon.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 10

Actually, breaking the 4th wall is whenever an actor observes that they are being observed. Talking to the audience is different.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This show is a mockumentary. He's not addressing the audience. He's addressing the documentary crew.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

The show always does that though, so you wouldn't need to state that every time you post about it.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Actually, this show doesn't break the 4th wall, because its characters are being interviewed and speak within their reality. Misuse of term.

It makes reference to the cut to the next scene with Ron being extremely confused. For a moment, he is aware of what happened on the show.

10 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 9

Cam confirm, @Dreamare is correct. Its easier to notice while actually watching the episode. Ron and the audience are the only ones who(1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

notice the time-lapse/scene-change. Ron's look of confusion is literally him trying to figure out how he got there. (2/2)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

But that's how every episode is. They are fully aware they're in front of cameras, like the office.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I don't think that's the case. He is confused, but nothing out of the ordinary happened other than Chris Traeger's immense charisma.

10 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 4

No, Chris uses his immense charisma to go meta and change the scene to be in the cafe with Ron, even though Ron refused and remembers that.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 5

This isn't breaking the fourth wall... Yes, that's the joke from our point of view. But there is no in-universe fourth wall break.

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

That's not 4th wall breaking but okay :)

10 years ago | Likes 128 Dislikes 8

4th wall breaking isn't always a textbook look-at-the-camera. It was an event that was only noticed by Ron and the audience, it still fits.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

And the documentary crew that was filming it... So not really a 4th wall thing at all.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I don't think any of you entirely understand the 4th wall concept...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Well, he is nodding to the fact that the editing often offers little to no explanation to what happened between scenes, so...there's that

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Maybe not breaking, but definitely leaning on it.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's a mockumentary, You tend to forget it, but the premise of the show is that they are being followed by a documentary film crew.

10 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

They are still breaking that 4th wall of the mockumentary with Ron's time lapse. It's not the textbook look-at-the-camera, but still fits.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 10

What, how is it breakin the 4th wall?

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

That time-lapse event was only noticed by Ron and the audience. It was an indirect interaction with the audience outside of their normal (1)

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 8

mockumentary format. It's very loose, but it definitely fits. Composition teacher approved. (2/2)

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 7

I figured a show where the characters speak directly to the camera really isn't concerned with fourth wall breaking.

10 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

Don't they do that all the time though?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I really don't understand that format either. When did this become the new thing? Modern Family does it too but it doesn't make sense.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

the mac show did that too..

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I might be wrong, but the Office was the first popular show that did it, and P&R was originally intended to be a spin-off of the Office.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

This is the correct shit right here.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But that makes sense in the UK version because a documentary crew is filming them. I haven't watched the US one but is that the same deal?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

it's the same deal and the first season of the office is pretty much word for word the same as the UK version, after that it gets way better

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I've never seen Parks & Recreation or The Office, but thanks to Imgur I can hold conversations about the shows like I've seen every episode.

10 years ago | Likes 154 Dislikes 1

Just don't mention that to people.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Seen every episode of both, and the office > parks & rec. Both are worth watching though

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

watch them .... i was on the fence before but decided to watch them.... the office is one of THE best shows ive ever watched

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Man, wasn't it great how Andy and Ben ended up working for that weird guy together? That was hilarious. Especially when they went to England

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

But Andy get's the blue helicopter because he called it.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They are on Netflix

10 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Up to the last season, at least.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, not everyone have that, I to example have Viaplay (a kinda bad Swedish version).

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I haven't watched the shows, not because I think they're bad, but because I don't want to fail out of college. I have no self control.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Uk netflix?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sadly I don't know :(

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope, Amazon Prime in the UK. Technology can solve your problems though....

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I dont pirate stuff, and you have to pay for each individual things on amazon prime

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not actually suggesting pirating - if it's on US Netflix, log in with your (paid for) UK Netflix acc. and make it think you're in the US
