When I was in high school someone did this on a whiteboard with sharpie, except they drew a penis...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dump some rubbing alcohol on there ;).

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

EL MARKOOOOO!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is why I keep markers and pens on the opposite end of my desk from my draw pad

rubbing alchohol

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No way - you'd smell that so quickly.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Easy to fix, just grab some 80 grit sandpaper and sand it off! Then use some 900 grit to smoothen your screen again.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Acetone works much better on laptop screens

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm suspicious of your desire to help.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

my high school got those smart boards you can draw on and a teacher drew on it with a marker on the first day lol

8 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

I work at a college and it happens all the time. Hell people even draw on the pull down projection screens sometimes.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did that when I was a trainee teacher... just the once.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Rub some bacon on it

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

What if I am lacking bacon to rub upon it, Mr. Telephone Operator?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Rub some bacon on it

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Thank god for hand sanitizer.

8 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 2

Thank the Emperor for Exterminatus... Oh, you were telling about the ink...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

why spend so much for isopropyl alcohol ?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because I teach kindergarten. My supply of hand sanitizer beats my supply of rubbing alcohol

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or, alternatively, pour vodka on it.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

then slurp up the remnants of your mistake

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sanitizer and vodka would work for the same reason: alcohol.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

alcohol solves everything. except crippling alcoholism i guess

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

meaning the best option is the one you should actually use- methylated spirits.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

yeah, but if you spill vodka you can drink it

COLDSTEEL THE HEDGEHEG

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Easy to fix, cover your the black lines with dry erase marker... wipe away... no worries.

8 years ago | Likes 452 Dislikes 7

Or spray deodorant

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

WD40 works too. And takes labels off too.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or any other alcohol based solvent.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

A little water and a Magic Eraser. Works great

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He should use white out.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's actually a genius idea! I'll keep that in mind

8 years ago | Likes 191 Dislikes 2

Watched jackass write on dry erase with permanent marker insisting the whole time he could easily remove it with this method: DID NOT WORK

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd double-check what comprises the surface of your touchscreen/monitor. It may react unfavorably with some substances I'd warrant.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Dry erase markers and rubbing alcohol were mentioned, I'd like to add that the higher alcohol percentage the better, try hand sanitizer

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I use hand sanitizer on skin and smooth surfaces too

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It works super well... I did it at work recently and blew everyone’s minds.

8 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 0

Ill blow your mind

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

With your fiery farts?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

lol, legit question. does that really work?

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Not a good idea for the screen. It's fine for a whiteboard, but a screen has special coatings that would be destroyed.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Try hand sanitizer, should do the trick.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can confirm.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ideally you use the same (solvent based) marker that got you into this mess, because you know it has a solvent for the pigment in question.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Used Perm on white board, used dry erase marker and it removed it no problem

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why does it work? Does the marker absorb the ink or does the dry-erase ink dissolve the permanent marker ink?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It seems like the alcohol breaks up the permanent marker and loosens particles making it not permanent anymore

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/2 nonporous surface. It doesn't work well if the ink sinks into pores with something like wood.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The ink is dissolved in a solvent like rubbing alcohol in the marker. When you expose it to more solvent, you can lift it from a 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

yeah, i just had to remove permanent marker off a dry-erase board earlier this week like that. you have to scrub but it works.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

i never found that i had to "scrub" just scribble over the perm with dry erase and wipe. boom.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

hmm maybe the markers i had to use were running dry, or the sharpie had been there too long

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

i think it was aliens

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Rubbing alcohol is a quicker solution to the same ends.

8 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 4

Why waste alcohol? Just lick it...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nice pun

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Alcohol won't damage the screen but it will dissolve oleophobic and anti-reflective coatings, giving you uneven shiny spots.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

ive used 70 percent rubbing alcohol on my monitor and had no issues

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you don't need your monitor anymore... Yes.

8 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 7

monitor and it didn't get damaged. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Alcohol doesn't damage LCDs, both with a glass digitizer or without. It's acetone you want to avoid.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Alcohol isn't a danger to LCDs, I don't think. Long as the device is turned off and you don't use a lot, you should be golden.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Alcohol is perfectly fine to use on LCD screens. Just be sure to dampen a cloth with alcohol, don't pour it directly onto the screen.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's not a monitor, its a tablet which would have a glass cover over the screen. Alcohol is fine. I've also used in on a standard LCD 1/2
