We had to put booties on my old (13) pitty's back feet so she can walk w/out slipping. Her hips are bad. Didn't balk. Just walked & smiled!

"God dammit Karen, not this shit again."

Few things make me smile like seeing a dog in booties

Runs like a newborn foal

I'm surprised the cameraman was able to keep the dog in frame. I would've had to put the camera down to laugh my ass off.

8 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

Protects the little toe beans from gettin stuck to ice and such, use it in the summer as well so dont get burnt beans.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I like to think things like this are on the same level as wearing lame clothes to embarrass your kids.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Snow can stick to fur between their paw pads

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have never laughed so wholeheartedly at any other "doggo wears boots for first time" post as this. +1

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

My dog did this inside the house but seemed to intrinsically understand their purpose once he went outside and realized his feet didn't hurt

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

What a smart dog! What kind is it?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Romeo is a whippet. No body fat in Chicago so he's used to getting bundled up at this point, boots included (only outside though)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why do all dogs have the same reaction?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My theory is that they use their paws to sense the floor below them. When they wear to boots they think the floor is moving up with 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Them and so they move their feet even higher to get off the floor. It takes while before they can get used to the feeling. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Or maybe they think floor is lava?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My dog complains about how the snow makes her feet hurt but then refuses to walk in booties. It's infuriating.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

And probably a little hilarious, yes?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yes when I first got them. Now she acts like her feet get frostbit and refuses to walk outside and then poops in the house.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I put jingle bells on my dogs feet for Christmas and it terrified him. Then i felt bad.

8 years ago | Likes 163 Dislikes 5

I did this to my cat, she freaked and ran all over the place trying to get away from the bell.

That is a cute ass dog. What breed?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He forgave me after about 7 seconds so it was all good.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Dogs are too good for this world

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

This dog gets it

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Remember last year in AZ it got so hot that the pavement gave dogs bad burns, may be this is to help them?

8 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

If you live in Arizona you should not have a dog with out shoes in those hot summer days if it's too hot for you it's too hot for the dog

8 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 3

Most of us walk our dogs early morning or in the evening. During the day we jump from pocket to pocket of AC as fast as we can

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Yeah dogs paws can get frost bitten if they are walking in snow for a lengthy time or if it's just really cold, we have a gel we put on ours

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Think it is actually the rock salt used on sidewalks/roads that ends up "burning" their feet.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

1/2 This sounded weird to me given dogs used to be wolves, so I googled it and it seems at least for sled-dogs frost bite is a non-factor

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Had a german shepherd / rottie growing up. That dog ran around for hours in 2 feet of snow at -30, no issues, no doggy-clothing ever.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I heard an article saying dogs raised in the cold get acclimated, but even huskies or wolves raised in Hot climates can suffer

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Greatly in the cold and get frostbite.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Interesting, I could see it happening. Much like occupation can affect people's hands or feet thickness of dead skin.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/2 Sled dogs sometimes use boots, but only because of scrapes/tears due to rough snow. Thick skin and higher body temp prevent frostbite.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

That's sled dogs who train and get used to this. Your average household pet does not build up to this. And they use wax to protect from cuts

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, dogs used to be wolves, key word, used- We share common ancestors with apes, yet we wear clothes.. Like, that logic is flawed.. :-) 1/

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Still, good on you for actually googling! Also, salt can be quite an issue, it gets up under their paws if salt is used where you live

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are you tired of your cat stomping around the house? Perfect solution

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

On a dog I find it to be cruel on sad, but on a cat it's funny as hell.

MEEEEOOOOWWW

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Would this only be okay if dog has to walk on hot pavement? To not burn paws?

8 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 6

Yes, it would be great if you live somewhere where by 9am its 90F (Florida), cause the pavement is scary hot and burns their paws too.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It doesn’t hurt the dog, and they get used to them very quickly.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That is how shoes tend to work.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Snowy/salty pavement as well, i have to put them on my dog on really cold winter days

8 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 0

rocksalt burns them in winter iirc

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was it burning or freezing ?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

chemical 'burn' i think

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My sister runs long distances with her dog, his pads were getting raw so he needed these. Also for rocky terrain, she is a rock climber.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

I am a lady rock climber with a dog pal too! We are connected in this small way.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's actually my sister. She just ended a 2 year road trip devoted to climbing. She kicks butt on the rock, I kick butt in a lab (1/2)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And like many scientists, the cat is my furry friend of choice. I like dogs, but I can't balance lab life with their needs (2/2).

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

hahah well I also work in a research lab! I usually do a 3 week road-trip annually. Hopefully can do a long-term one in a few years....

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's mainly for salt. Dog paws can handle most things, but idiotic amounts of wet, salty slush is not one of them.

8 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

Why is that?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Heat too. It'll get 110°+ here sometimes during the summer. Shouldn't have a dog outside then though. Those temps mean very hot pavement.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There is snow, but unless they are running huge miles, or extreme cold, or fog has foot problems not really needed

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

I hate it when my fog has foot problems

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There to protect against salt and ice accumulating and damaging their paws

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Does swoogity rhyme better than swooty?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

No. Swooty would have been better.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I work at a pet store and winter is the best because I get to see all breeds of dog struggle with booties.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is it just me that feel like maybe the design og doogboots could be a bit better to sit better on the dogfoot and probably feel better?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The trick is that you have to design them based on averages. Too much differentiation between breeds.
