ah yes, using taxpayer money to make sure taxpayers pay more for energy.

Republicans: The indisputable enemy of integrity, decency, reason, and progress

Anticorporate violence is justice and noble.

It's a shame it's illegal, as well. :(

So make a new company and start the installs with them, make tru.p.pay another billion

21 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In the not so far future ( we middle aged people will likely see it) the US will regret this so hard as other nations have cornered the market in these technologies and the US will have to pay quadruple to catch up if they even can.

All because the fossil fuel lobby is pouring so much money into the pocket of politicians, especially conservative politicians.

2 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am so tired of my nation having the operate under the dead weight of conservatism. The republican ghouls are already overseeing the death of American hegemony and now that want to return us all to the 1890 robber baron and black lung days.

This nation is a shit hole and it deserves the collapse that is coming.

I vote when this regime finally is overthrown, we go and build wind/solar farms on EVERY trump golf course.

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I demand this

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Back when I talked to them I was expressing how my mother could save a bunch of money by installing solar panels in her yard (she lives in AZ) and apparently I triggered her. She freaked out and started going on about how she will only use oil and coal sourced power... It's a death cult ladies and gents. It's going to take us decades to recover from the damage of MAGA and Trump.

I didn't have "we will literally give you free money not to develop renewable energy" on my 2026 Bingo card.

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I swear to god they think nothing of the future. Other countries are going to blast past oil into full green energy and we will definitely be the number one shithole in the world still operating off of oil. Fucking stupid.

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So, we’re all gonna not pay taxes after this yeah? Cause that’s what needs to happen.

Access to literally endless free power.

"Lol no"

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

America is the #1 sponsor of terrorism just by virtue of their oil addiction.

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Good!
Those horrible wind turbines kill millions of birds each hour and slow down earth' rotation speed!
Also they could possibly kill people in their vicinity by sucking the oxygen out of their lungs! Just imagine your kids swimming to close to one of these things just having fun and suddenly, WOOSH, dead because of no more oxygen in their lungs!
Wind energy is worse than any weapon of mass destruction!

1 day ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

in other words we spent a billion because it will generate more than a billion in profit? so, we just paid their profit directly?

2 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

No, no, you HAVE to understand that offshore wind farms are somehow the enemy of Jesus, traditional family values, american patriotism and free access to guns.

2 days ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 3

How can we expect Jesus to walk on water if he's gonna get headed by a wind turbine, checkmate atheists.

2 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also, there's a chance that it makes you gay.

1 day ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Republican Jesus confirmed this!

it's a slippery slope, next thing you know there will be trans women in bathrooms. We have to stop Satan, even though Glod couldn't. Won't somebody please help Him.

2 days ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Offshire wind farms leak hundreds of gallons of hydraulic fuel into the ocean, wreck fish habitat, and disrupt natural ocean pathways for both mariners and marine life. Go ahead and disagree if you want, but at least get it right as to WHY people are against them. Souce: marine fucking biologist.

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

You're right, offshore oil drilling is much safer.

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like Jesus wasn't a big fan

1 day ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Just one more crime against decency we should write onto trump's gibbet cage.

2 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Reminder that THE reason Trump hates wind *turbines* and won't shut up about them is because Scotland *dared* build a few off the coast of the golf course he bought there, and had the audacity to tell him 'no' when he demanded they be removed for 'spoiling his view.' That was *fourteen years ago* and he still obsesses about attacking wind energy. Move over, Don Quixote, there's a new madman tilting at windmills.

2 days ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Spite is all there is in that tiny smooth deranged brain. Some can argue his whole launch into presidential campaigns was due to Obama mocking him. Well that and Russia.

You don't understand, those Windmills are the reason why his Golfcourse never operated without a loss !!! /S

2 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Who wrote the article? Genuinely curious

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The ignorance and stupidity of this is mind boggling. It only makes sense when you realise it's only about $$$ and not trying to keep the planet clean.

2 days ago | Likes 99 Dislikes 2

But if they make money off of it how is it not going to make them money?? Wind is infinite, oil isn't, have I missed something??

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even then it doesn't make sense, it's literally trading a *minimally* higher short term spike for *drastically* lower long-term rewards. Billionaire CEOs are the true "Instant gratification generation"

2 days ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

But wait, there's more! It's directly robbing the east coast of jobs and energy while moving that money into Texas.

1 day ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Too many people are profiting "for free" from it, and some people are revolted by that thought

2 days ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Not just money but also the irrational manchild in charge of the country has a long standing grudge against wind mills

2 days ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Yes, the orange man is so obsessed with the evilness of wind mills that he will soon sue the wind itself for billions of dollars in damages.

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You misspelled "the rest of the world"

2 days ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 3

Oh, no worries, our christian party in Germany has also stopped plans to follow through with renewable energy policies. Instead of building more solar and wind parks we're now going back to building more gas power plants. Because we've all seen how much we can rely on getting gas from russia or qatar.
But our christian chancellor was part of the board of directors for blackrock and our energy minister was a fossil fuel lobbyist, so it's all on brand for these ghouls.

2 days ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Us Australians can sympathise, the fossil fuel industry has both major political parties by the balls. Feels like we're headed for the Mad Max timeline.

1 day ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The USA auto industry fucked around & fought against electric for too long, meanwhile China now makes an electric car 4x cheaper than the USA & much higher quality than Tesla. My husband is in the electric car industry: Detroit may have controlled the auto industry last century, but this century (and most likely this decade) they are going to be left in the dust and every car manufacturer from the USA is going to go under, except RAM for its heavy trucks, which is a completely different market.

v

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Their gas fuel propaganda is still very strong

1 day ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

PLUS look at gas prices now. Oh if ONLY we had SOME way to generate energy from a source that ISNT from another country. Like the sun, or wind. Then they wouldn’t have to spend money on BUYING oil…

Plus just imagine if we could make it EASIER for solar capture. Imagine what that could do for power on the MOON.

But no. No they don’t think about that. They don’t imagine a moon base with… “BP Gas & Solar” brand solar panels or something.

1 day ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Chinese solar farm on a reservoir, also reduces water loss from evaporation

2 days ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

That is impressive, but my first thought was electricity and water, what could go wrong!

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If that is your first thought then you need to science more, it's not like they didn't think of that right? How to manage that problem.

1 day ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And those increased energy prices are only the short term effect for the Americans. Destruction of the global ecosystem is following close behind - and that, in the short term, will also drive up insurance claims (and therefore insurance premiums) from natural disasters. Not only for Americans.

2 days ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 2

insurance only works when they believe they will make more then they lose in claims. when it is a guarantee you'll lose $$, nobody makes that bet aka nobody will insure them. there are already places where you can't get insurance, no matter how much you're willing to pay

2 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And, at least in Germany, the insurance companies won't lose out. They're covered by a reinsurer, which in turn is too big to be allowed to fail, i.e. will likely be bailed out by "the state".

1 day ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Reinsurers are the real financial giants.

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And the more weather disasters occur, the scarcer and therefore more expensive food becomes.

2 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wasn't Soylent Green the dirt cheap stuff to feed the masses?

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's right. Food prices are only affordable for the super-rich, and the masses get pressed food bars. The newest variety is Soylent Green. (No further spoilers. Watch the movie.)

The headline is a *bit* misleading. The company paid a $1bn deposit for a the permits/leases/etc to start the wind project. The Trump DoI gave that back on the condition that they invest it into fossil fuel projects.
So it's still bad (still more dumb fossil fuel investments), but it's not really giving them taxpayer money. The DoI wasn't going to let the wind project continue either way, so it's really just giving the company *their own* money back.

2 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

So, you’re saying that the billion they paid for the leases doesn’t go into the pool of $ that taxpayers have to contribute to?
I’m sure if Orangeman could have managed to pocket the billion, he would have no problem tapping that pool for “real” taxpayer $ to buy back the leases.

1 day ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks. I had to scroll pretty far for the facts. Top comments are political bots?

2 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

No because thats a 3GW Windpark which is going be missing. Windparks are build within two years. A Thermal Energy Plant with 3GW needs around 3-5 years. While parts of the Windpark can already work and generate Power after 6-12 month a Thermal Power plant can't do it. And guess what needs Tons of Power within the next 2 years? AI Centers. They are buying every new Powersource avaible on the market. My Guess: US will soon hit 20-30ct/kWh for Industrial power. +10ct for consumers.

2 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Only way out: Easy and Fast to build Powersources, like Solar and Wind. Or the Ai Bubble will pop and destroy the whole US Economy. I have popcorn and Solar on the roof and a BEV.

2 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

However, it should be noted that payments for licenses, fees, and permits are a common source of revenue for the state budget. Repaying money already received would effectively constitute a state expenditure.
