That first one is nitrogen triiodide, produced by reacting iodine with ammonia and letting it dry. It can be set off by alpha radiation.

Watching #5 literally made my hangover worse

I have a Master's in engineering and #12 gave me nightmares of school.

Me trying to follow any of these. https://media.giphy.com/media/lXiRoPt9Rkzt7yLYY/giphy.gif

#1 looks like Nitrogen triiodide.

I finally get it. Guys I finally get it!! It all makes sense!!

How do some ppl come up with that kinda stuff: /

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#1 is Ammonium Trinitrate. Volatile stuff.

Appreciate that +1 :)

We are all just small sensory organs of the universe.

In a nutshell.

Lotsa neat science, haven't seen most before, +1 especially for tag

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I actually recognize a bunch of this now, thanks college!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those tags tho!!

Thanks but it didn't help me math better at all

WTF is going on here!

Man, #10 just fucks with me

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Math is fucking amazing, and yet I hate it so much.

#10 ....

I kinda want to try build a mechanical one, looks like the cube spins faster that the vertical elements though so idk.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, cube turns twice for one rotation of ribbon. It does still work though, since the ribbon itself is turning, kinda like a 2:1 ratio gear

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can make that work... That's a project and a half thoigh

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I watched that for hours and can only assume that there is some kind of lovecraftian witchcraft at work...

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My thoughts exactly. I can't make it work in my head. And yet ...

What is the point of the algebra done in #5 ? It doesn't seem to simplify anything at all or do anything useful

8 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 1

Look up the Wikipedia page for the Gaussian Integral. Read through the solutions and tell me what you think. It can also be solved with #5.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It seems to have made it so there is only one x term, possibly to make it easier when substituting in values

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's an alternative way to use the quadratic formula

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Now you can solve for x.

Maths

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Shows completing the square, my personal favourite way of solving quadratics (yes we still do that at university)

8 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Crazy, I would have thought you'd move onto cubics by university

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Well that too

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can also be useful in a formal proof.
