Clay Man

This was a self portrait project for my sculpture class.

Prepped

We had to make a plaster mold for the final project.

Half Cast

Half way through the casting process.

Full Cast

The mold I got.

Near Perfect Fit

The sculpture was accurate enough to let me fit my head into the cast with and almost perfect fit! Everyone had a good laugh.

Destroyed

Unfortunately we had to destroy the clay sculpture as part of the project.

Clean Up

...aaannnddd we had to destroy the cast in the process also... I feel there was a lesson here.

Almost Done

After a lot of cleanup

Retirement

How that the class is over, he spends his days watching our paints dressed as Senor Felipe!

Hello, is it me you're looking for?

The original was 200% better than what you need up with...

I totally agree, unfortunately the teacher designed the lesson as a casting project, nd rushed us at the end. We didn't use a clay that 1/2

Could be fired though, so it was what I got or nothing :/

A 1st year art student could have told you there was no way that mold was going to work.

It did what it was meant to do, broke apart. It was a single use mold, it wasn't designed to be reused. It was made to be destroyed 1/2

You're right, a first year could see it couldn't be reused, but the whole process was meant for 1 unique final piece. In that it worked fine
